第二單元檢測(cè)(時(shí)間:90分鐘滿(mǎn)分:120分)第一部分閱讀理解(共兩節(jié),滿(mǎn)分40分)第一節(jié)(共12小題;每小題2.5分,滿(mǎn)分30分)閱讀下面短文,從每題所給的A、B、C、D四個(gè)選項(xiàng)中,選出最佳選項(xiàng)。AToday well talk about reading. When we read a text, our eyes move across a page in short, quick movements. We recognize words usually when our eyes still fixate (注視).Each time they fixate,we see a group of words. This is known as the recognition span (跨度) or the visual (視覺(jué)) span. The length of time for which the eyes stop varies from person to person. It also varies within any person according to his purpose in reading and his familiarity with the text.In addition,it can be affected by such factors as lighting and tiredness.Unfortunately,in the past, many reading improvement courses have concentrated too much on how our eyes move across the page.As a result of this misleading emphasis on the purely visual aspects of reading, many exercises have been designed to train the eyes to see more words at one fixation. For example,in some exercises, words are flashed onto a screen for a tenth of a second. One of the exercises has required students to fix their eyes on some central point, taking in the words on either side.Such word patterns are often formed in the shape of pyramids,so the reader takes in more and more words at each continuous fixation. All these exercises are very clever, but its one thing to improve a persons ability to see words and quite another thing to improve his ability to read a text efficiently.Reading requires the ability to understand the relationship between words.Consequently, for these reasons, many experts have now begun to question the usefulness of eye training, especially since any approach which trains a person to read isolated (孤立的) words and phrases would seem unlikely to help him in reading a continuous text.1The time of the recognition span can be affected by the following factors EXCEPT .A.lighting and tirednessB.the length of a group of wordsC.ones purpose in readingD.ones familiarity with the text答案:B解析:細(xì)節(jié)理解題。第一段最后兩句說(shuō)明:每個(gè)人識(shí)別單詞的跨度根據(jù)其閱讀的目的、對(duì)材料的熟悉度而不同,另外還會(huì)受到照明、疲勞度等因素的影響,因此可排除A、C、D三項(xiàng),而選B項(xiàng)。2The author may is not needed for efficient reading.B.The reading exercises mentioned are useless for reading.C.The reading exercises mentioned cant help improve efficient reading.D.The reading exercises mentioned have done a great job so far.答案:C解析:推理判斷題。畫(huà)線(xiàn)部分意為:但是提高一個(gè)人看單詞的能力是一回事,提高他有效閱讀材料的能力是另一回事。由此判斷,作者認(rèn)為這樣的訓(xùn)練無(wú)助于有效閱讀能力的提高,故選C項(xiàng)。4The tune of the author in writing this text is .A.criticalB.neutralC.supportiveD.optimistic答案:A解析:主旨大意題。A項(xiàng)意為“批評(píng)的”;B項(xiàng)意為“中立的”;C項(xiàng)意為“支持的”;D項(xiàng)意為“樂(lè)觀的”。通讀全文可知,作者對(duì)現(xiàn)在閱讀能力的培訓(xùn)持否定態(tài)度。BLucille Clifton was the first African American Poet Laureate of Maryland.Critics call her one of the greatest writers of our time.Lucille Clifton was born in Depew,New York in 1936.She began writing poetry when she was about ten years old.She had developed an interest in poetry because of her mother,Thelma Sayles. Her mother was also a poet although her poems were never published. As a child Lucille would sit on her mothers lap and listen as she read poetry. She learned to love words and the power of words. That stayed with her as she grew. While her mother taught her to love poetry, her father gave her the gift of storytelling. He would tell Lucille interesting stories about her ancestors, especially the one named Lucille who was his grandmother.Samuel Clifton said she was the first black woman to be legally hanged in the state of Virginia.Lucille Clifton wrote about it in her poem called “Lucy”.Lucille often talked about her love for words. She loved the sound of words and the way the words felt in her mouth. She loved finding interesting ways to use words to express what was happening in the world.Unlike her mother,Lucille Cliftons poetry is anything but traditional. Her poems do not rhyme or follow a special kind of pattern. They do not use fancy words. Her poetry is known for being simple, truthful and direct. It is written the way people speak,in a casual(隨意的),relaxed language. There is very little punctuation and even less capitalization. Many of the poems are uncomfortably honest.Lucille Clifton often said that she tried to comfort the afflicted(折磨的) and afflict the comfortable.Over the years, she seems to have perfected that art.5What can be learned from the passage?A.Lucilles parents influenced her a lot.B.Lucilles father often read poems to her.C.Lucilles mother published some poems.D.Lucilles parents taught her to love words.答案:A解析:推理判斷題。由第二段第二句、第四句、第五句和第三段的第一句可知A項(xiàng)正確。6The underlined word “it” in Paragraph 3 probably refers to .A.the gift of storytellingB.Samuel many people today, reading Shakespeares language can be a problembut it is a problem that can be solved.Modern readers may need to develop the skills of untangling(理清)unusual sentence structures and of recognizing and understanding poetic compressions(壓縮),omissions(省略),and wordplay. And even those skilled in reading unusual sentence structures may have occasional trouble with Shakespeares words.Four hundred years of “static” intervene between his speaking and our hearing. Most of his immense vocabulary is still in use,but a few of his words are not, and, worse, some of his words now have meanings quite different from those they had in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. In the theater, most of these difficulties are solved for us by actors who study the language and are able to express it clearly for us so that the essential meaning is heardor, when combined with stage action,is at least felt. When reading on ones own,one must do what each actor does:go over the lines (often with a dictionary close at hand) until the puzzles are solved and the lines yield up their poetry and the characters speak in words and phrases that are, suddenly, rewarding and wonderfully memorable. The language of Shakespeares poems, like that of poetry in general,is both highly compressed and highly structured. While most often discussed in terms of its images and its metrical(格律的) and other formal structures, the language of the poems, like that of Shakespeares plays, also repays close attention to such basic linguistic elements as words, word order, and sentence structures. The New Folger Shakespeare Library editions of Shakespeares plays and poems offer readers assistance in understanding Shakespeares language with notes and images placed beside the play text. They also include essays on how Shakespeare uses language in each work.9In the theatre,we can understand Shakespeares plays because .A.people sitting by can help us if necessaryB.actors can express Shakespeares essential meaning clearlyC.the language used in Shakespeares plays is exactly the same as todayD.we are specially trained to understand Shakespeares plays答案:B解析:細(xì)節(jié)理解題。由第二段第一句“.actorswhostudythelanguageandareabletoexpressitclearlyforussothattheessentialmeaningisheard.”可知。10When you read Shakespeares plays by yourself, you cant .A.study the actors答案:D解析:細(xì)節(jié)理解題。由第二段最后一句“Whenreadingononesown,onemustdowhateachactordoes:gooverthelines(oftenwithadictionarycloseathand)untilthepuzzlesaresolvedandthelinesyielduptheirpoetryandthecharactersspeakinwordsandphrasesthatare,suddenly,rewardingandwonderfullymemorable.”可知。11The
