1、Teaching Plan forUnit 9 Have you ever been to Singapore?西安市慶華中學邵軼玫Unit 9 Have you ever been to Singapore?Part 1 My Understanding of This LessonThis is a reading period of this unit, of which the purpose is to enable students to learn about Singapore. Four paragraphs are organized in the passage, and
2、 one paragraph tells one main aspect of Singapore. It is not difficult for students to understand each paragraph. Meanwhile Reading Strategy can give students a clue on how to read the passage. That is, if they take time to reflect the passage, they will remember what they have read better.Teaching
3、Aims:1. Knowledge aim: Get students learn about Singapore.2. Ability aim: Develop students reading ability and lead them to reflect what they have just read.3. Moral aim: Stimulate students interest in knowing about the culture of foreign countries.Teaching Difficulties:Understand some difficult sen
4、tences in the article.Teaching Key Points:1. Understand the passage correctly.2. Some key phrases: take a holiday; three quarters; wake up; all year roundSomething about the Students:1. Some of students may have been to some places and they have learnt some geographical knowledge about Southeast Asi

Some students are inactive in the class because they are afraid of making mistakes.Part 2 My Teaching Theories, Methods and AidsTeaching Theories:Before dealing with this lesson, Ill do my best to carry out the following theories: Make the students the real masters in class while the teacher he
6、rself as a director; Combine the language structures with the language functions; Let the students receive some moral education while they are leaning.Teaching Method:Task-based teaching and learning method; Discussing method; Cooperative learning method.Teaching Aids:BlackboardPart 3 Teaching Steps
7、The entire steps are:Revision and Lead-in; Before You Read; While You Read; After You ReadStep 1 Revision and Lead-in1. Help the students remind the key sentence patterns: Have you ever been to . ? by asking them to translate some sentences.2. Ask them if they have ever thought about travelling to a
8、 favorite foreign destination.3. Ask the following questions such as, Why would you like to go there? What do you think is interesting about that place? What famous thins are there? Has anyone else ever been there? Step 2 Before You Read1. Then, ask the groups to choose one of the capital cities in
9、the box and write four things the group knows about it.2. Discuss answers as a class.3. Reading strategy: When you finish reading, take a moment to think about what you read. What tings do you remember immediately? Ask yourself what information you already know and what is new. This helps you regist
10、er new information and remember it.Step 3 While You ReadAsk 4 students to read slowly and thoughtfully. They should be aware of the words they are reading as they read.Step 4 After You Read1. Ask another 4 students to summarize each paragraph using one word or phrase. What do you think the first / s
11、econd / third / fourth paragraph mainly talking about? Please summarize each paragraph in one word or phrase?2. 3a: Ask students to scan the reading to find more words for the different categories. Ask some students to write down their answers on the blackboard.3. 3b: Students work individually, add
12、ing words to the different headings. After 5 minutes, ask students to share their ideas with a partner.4. 3c: Tell students to first read the false information given in the exercise. Then ask them to scan the reading to find the correct details to write a true sentence.Step 5 Consolidation1. To learn something about Singapore. Lead them to get to know more about foreign culture.2. To take some time to reflect the passage. It can help students remember what they have just read better.Ste
