3、enhance humanism diathesis is very important for english major students.as a english learner, strengthing cultural background knowledge and developing the cross-cultural awareness are really improve language understanding and expression ability,truly achieve the goal of teaching.this paper emphasize

4、s on the importance of improving the awareness of cross-culture in the english teaching and the methods of improving the cross-cultural awareness.whatmore,this article analyses the current situation of cross-cultural awareness among the english major students in our class.this paper includes five pr

5、ts.the first part talk about the definition of the cross-cultural awareness.and the next part is a survey of whether the english students has the cross-cultural awareness or not.the third and fourth part are describe the awareness of cross-culture reflected in english teaching,and the methods of dev

6、eloping cultural awareness.finally,we come to the conclusion.摘要眾所周知,跨文化交際的不同就是由于人們文化背景的不同。而英語教學(xué)的主要目的之一是要培養(yǎng)學(xué)生運用英語進行交際的能力,交際能力離不開所學(xué)語言所反映的文化背景。大學(xué)英語教學(xué)不僅僅是語言教學(xué),更應(yīng)該包括文化教學(xué),特別是培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的跨文化意識。人文素質(zhì)的提高,人文精神的培養(yǎng)對英語專業(yè)學(xué)生的教育尤為重要。作為英語學(xué)習(xí)者,加強文化背景知識和文化意識,是切實提高語言理解和表達能力,真正實現(xiàn)教學(xué)目的。本文重點描述了培養(yǎng)跨文化意識在英語教學(xué)中的重要性和培養(yǎng)學(xué)生跨文化交際的方法和途徑。通過調(diào)查

9、etween language and culture are very closely. we should learn one countrys culture when we learn its language.at the same time,language is a main tool of learning a culture.the process of learning a language is also the process of learning language culture.therefore,people always considered that lan

10、guage is an important part of culture.supposed that english learners study english just do some exercise and remember a large amount of vocabularies or grammar rules,that is to say he is lack of cross-cultural awareness,he cant understand well and make good use of the language.so the cross-cultural

11、awareness is very important for english teaching.chapter one the definition of cross-culturethe most influential study on cross-culture awareness is done by robert hanvey.according to hanvey,cross-culture refers to the cross-cultural communication of the participants in the cultural understanding of

12、 the sensitivity factors.there are four levels described by hanvey:first,to those who have been recognized as the surface is the strange phenomenon of cultural awareness;second,for those with the native culture and is considered to be contrary incredibly significant awareness of the cultural identit

13、y;three, through analysis in order to gain awareness of cultural identity;the four holders of cultural differences from the perspctive of perceive cultural differences.this four levels are the highly state of cross-cultural awareness.the cross-cultural awareness is mainly the difference of culture.t

14、hat is to say,strengthening the sensitivity of culture difference is the presupposition for undertaking the effective cultural communication.as for english learners,when he contacts with other culture,he should according to the knowledge of cross-cultural awareness to arouse the sensitivity to other

15、 culture completely. therefore,during the process of learning foreign language,we should learn the cultural connotation that reflected by every linguistic phenomenon. such as vocabulary learning vocabulary, in addition to the basic meaning, it still includes the emotional significance and the region

16、al color.so the teachers should pay more attention to the interpretation of the cultural background knowledge during the english teaching because the awareness of cross-culture plays an important part for students to study well.chapter two.the current situation of cross-clutural awarenessthe success

17、 of intercultural communication is not only dependent on the ability of using language,but also dependent on more understanding of other culture.therefore,during the process of english teaching,in order to achieve the goal of understanding other culture comprehensively,we should cultivate the learne

18、rs cross-cultural awareness firstly.to know the sensitivity of cross-cultulal awareness among the english learners,the author has investigated analysis through 121 the first-year students from english major,and the paper makes the following conclusions:(1).above 50% students thought they had cross-c

19、ultural awareness occasionally.(2)only 18% said they had well awareness of cross-culture.(3)the others thought themselves had no sensitivity to cross-cultural awareness.from the result, we can find that only few students think themselves have well awareness.there is a widespread existence problem in

20、 many school.more and more language input,classroom teaching skills and analysis of abstract definition are exist,while the less of culture input,extra-curricular knowledge and concreteness that gives to students.so it is necessary to force on training the awareness of cross-culture.chapter three.cr

21、oss-cultural awareness reflected in foreign language teaching.it is generally acknowledged that the foreign language teaching aims mainly at improving students communicative competence.firstly,there are many examples of intercultural communication show that compared to the “grammar mistakes”, “cultu

22、re errors” are more unacceptable.thus,language teaching is closely connected with cultule teaching.we should train the students awareness of the culture first.secondly,culture teaching in foreign language teaching includes language habit,outlooks on society,life and value,and so on.thus,there are a

23、lot of articles form the textbooks during the english teaching reflect one languangs habit,outlooks on society,lifelastly,in the educational process,we should pay attention to the comparison between the two cultures.people belived that mother tongue can motivate students to study the second language

24、 well.anyway.it must be very useful for developing learners cross-cultural awareness.howevre,there are many other existence exist that reflected in the foreign language teaching.but we just talk some typical opinions.chapter four. the methods of improving the cross-cultural awarenessafter realised t

25、he imoortance of the wareness of interculture,we should take same actions to training the effective cross-cultural awareness of student.according to seelye,h.n.(1989),he in his book teaching culture ,pointed out the following pinciples of teaching:(1).through the knowledge we had to understand the c

26、ulture.(2).make the cultural behaviors become an important part of every lesson.(3).students are supposed to acquire some competence of cross-cultural awareness.(4).students can understand other culture.(5).comprehending that peoples behavior is influenced by culture,and then understand and accept i

27、t.understanding means a kind of feeling communication.consequently,we can through the four ways to improving the cross-cultural awareness.firstly,english book has abundant of cultural information.when the teacher explaining the text,he can introduce more relevant culture background knowledge to let

28、the students understanding more. secondly,to carry out various of effective cultural activities in the class is a good way to help students to understan other culture.such as lectures,pair work,speech competition,play performance,and so on.thirdly,using the multi-media teaching technique will attrac

29、t the students to gain more knowledge about other culture.looking some movies like the treamet, the joy luck club can give a good cross-cultural communicatition example to student.fourthly,the cross-cultural awareness of teachers themselves play an important part during the teaching process.in our c

30、ountry,because teachers are “predominant”in the teaching process,they have dominant effect in education, and they requair well awareness of cross-culture.consequently,teachers need to know more about history, life style,traditional culture of english-speaking countries.conclusioncollege english teachings main goal is to improve english application abilities of the students, and the final target is to train the students cross-cultural social ability.in the current situation that the international communication are more and
