文檔簡介

、QMy Abaqus/Explicit model has several parts, and a mixture of different materials. I am using general contact and need to specify different friction coefficients for all the possible interactions of the parts. For example, my model has steel and rubber parts, and I need different coefficients of fri

、ction for the possible steel-steel, rubber-rubber, and steel-rubber contact interactions. Is there an easy way to do this?A(The following applies to Version 6.7 and higher)This can be achieved in Abaqus/Explicit by creating surfaces based on the assigned material type and then associating these surf

、aces with the desired contact properties. The steps are outlined below:1. Create surfaces based on the different material types in your model. This can be done in Abaqus/CAE as follows (a keyword description is shown in the Appendix):a. For each part in the model, create a geometry set for each

、material region of the part. In the Part module select:Tools Set Create.Specify the name, select Continue. and pick the geometry. If the part consists of a single material, simply drag select the entire part; if it consists of multiple materials, create an individual set for each portion of the part

、 that consists of a given material. For example, if a part consists of two materials, two geometry sets will be created. For organizational convenience, include the name of the material in the set name.b. After assigning the appropriate properties in the Property module, move to the Assembly module.

、 Create and position the part instances as you normally would.c. Each time a part is instanced, the set that you created in the Part module (as in Step a) will be listed in the Assembly entry of the model tree. For example, consider a model that has three parts; one consisting of steel (here na

、med Block), one consisting of rubber (named Cylinder), and one consisting of steel and rubber (named Grommet). We have created and named our geometry sets in the Part module, instanced part Block twice, and the remaining parts once. Expanding the Assembly entry in the model tree we will see the sets

、 aswhere the sets corresponding to the material types are noted.d. For a given material, select the associated sets from the model tree, right click, and select Merge:Specify a set name and click OK. Do this for each material, using a descriptive name for convenience. Continuing with our example, we

、 create sets All_Steel and All_Rubber that show in the model tree as:e. Open the display group manager. Select Item: Sets and from the set list, choose one of the sets created in (d). Select Replace to display only those parts and regions of the given material. Here, we choose the steel portion of t

、he model:f. SelectTools Surface Create.Specify a descriptive name, for example All_Steel, select Continue. and pick the faces to be included in the surface. This is most easily done by simply drag selecting all of the displayed entities. Note that if you select an internal surface in the course of d

、rag selecting, you will be prompted to pick a side for the internal face; in this case, cancel the operation, set the Selection Options to choose from exterior entities and re-define the surface. Select Done.g. Repeat steps (e) and (f) for each geometry set that you created in step (d).2. Creat

、e an interaction property for each appropriate material combination.Move to the Interaction module and select:Interaction Property Create.Specify a descriptive name, and define the desired contact property options, such as friction and damping. Do this for each material combination. Continuing with

、our example, we would define interaction properties for steel-on-steel contact, rubber-on-rubber contact, and steel-on-rubber contact.3. Create the contact interaction and add the individual contact property assignments. While still in the Interaction module, select:Interaction Create. Types: General

、 contact (Explicit) Continue.to invoke the Edit Interaction dialog box. To assign the individual contact properties, selectIndividual property assignments: Edit.from the Edit Interaction dialog box. This will invoke the Edit Individual Contact Property Assignments dialog, where the properties for ea

、ch surface pairing can be assigned. Continuing with our example, we specify properties for each material combination:Select OK to complete the definiton of the contact interaction. For more information see:· 'Assigning contact properties for general contact in Abaqus/Explicit' o Section
