As my studies have advanced and the boundaries between the sciences have began to blur, the comp
2、lexity of life, particularly on the molecular scale, has fascinated me; I find it incredible that I, a living and conscious being, consist mostly of just six common elements. As far as humans have come technologically, our technology pales in comparison to the work of nature. This complexity, howeve
3、r, has an underlying order and beauty that has really captivated me. My fascination in biochemistry stems from my study of biology and chemistry, both of which have long been the school subjects I have enjoyed the most. This interest spurred me to read around these subjects during my studies. Throug
4、h reading books such as The Biochemistry of Life by . and The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins, as well as articles in publications such as New Scientist, I have been able to more clearly discover what studying biochemistry entails and appreciate the breadth of biological disciplines with which it ov
5、erlaps. This has reinforced my decision to study biochemistry, as it is a discipline of great importance to many biological disciplines that I have found to be of great interest through my extended reading, particularly genetics. This appeals to my all-round love of science, which inevitably led me
6、study all three sciences to A2 Level. The rapidly advancing and cutting-edge nature of biochemistry means that it will present many moral and ethical implications in the future and these add to the excitement and relevance of the subject in todays world. I jumped at the opportunity to attend a bioch
7、emistry taster day at Imperial College London during the summer of 2022. This proved to be a valuable experience, inspiring me as to where an education in biochemistry could lead and also giving me an insight into the practical work involved. My regular reading of New Scientist and Chemistry Review
8、magazines has allowed me to appreciate science on a more global scale, outside of the classroom. This has also helped to increase my awareness of some of the pressing ethical issues that our scientific advancement will present us in the future. Regularly attending my sixth forms debating society all
9、owed me to develop the communication skills required to discuss such issues. I have also gained essential life skills such as time management and gained independence through my part-time work, in both a local chemist and a bookshop. My fascination in the world around me has not only fuelled my scien
10、tific curiosity, but also my interest in foreign languages and cultures, which I intend to explore as part of my gap year. I enjoy the fresh perspective that travelling and embracing a foreign culture can bring to life. I find it tremendously rewarding to be able to communicate with someone in their
11、 mother tongue, as I discovered when I had a French exchange student stay with me last year. This, coupled with my long established interest in Japanese culture, has prompted me to recently begin teaching myself Japanese. Learning such a different language is definitely a challenge, but one which I
12、am enjoying and intend to continue in the future. I strongly believe that in our global society, the need for languages and an understanding of other cultures and customs is becoming increasingly important in life and in the workplace. I excitingly anticipate the vast array of opportunities that the
13、 experience of university will open up to me and I hope to explore these to build upon and expand my interests. Yours sincerely, 美國(guó)留學(xué)物理學(xué)專業(yè)申請(qǐng)條件 1.美國(guó)院校偏好來(lái)自一些國(guó)內(nèi)頂尖大學(xué)出身的申請(qǐng)者,由于他們?nèi)ッ绹?guó)大學(xué)后表現(xiàn)大多都很優(yōu)秀,因而美國(guó)學(xué)校就會(huì)比較注重招這些學(xué)生。 當(dāng)然申請(qǐng)者專業(yè)背景的相關(guān)性與申請(qǐng)難易程度也有著緊密的聯(lián)系。在申請(qǐng)研究生時(shí),首先要考慮的是自己的研究方向與申請(qǐng)方向是否匹配,其次與套磁教授的研究方向是否相關(guān)。所以在選校以及套磁教授的選擇時(shí),
14、最注重的還是專業(yè)匹配度。 2.申請(qǐng)者的硬件水平GPA、GT成績(jī)和獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金等學(xué)術(shù)情況就成為了較直觀的反映。一般來(lái)說(shuō),專業(yè)GPA的影響力高于綜合GPA,本科階段的GPA比研究生階段的GPA更具影響力。 專業(yè)前50的學(xué)校的研究生院通常要求:GPA起碼要3.5(B+)以上;GREV+Q325,部分學(xué)校的物理系要求PhysicalSub成績(jī),對(duì)于GREsub學(xué)校更加注重Percentage而不單是分?jǐn)?shù);IBT100。 其后的學(xué)校通常要求:GPA3.0(B),但是錄取學(xué)生的平均GPA一般也在3.3(B+)左右;GREV+Q315以上;IBT90,但是從近幾年的競(jìng)爭(zhēng)情況看,IBT還是盡量要考到90以上才能在激
15、烈的競(jìng)爭(zhēng)中不容易被輕易擠掉,并且也有更多希望拿Assistantship獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金,畢竟國(guó)際學(xué)生拿Fellowship的機(jī)會(huì)很少。 3.申請(qǐng)者的論文、研究經(jīng)歷和工作經(jīng)歷方面。研究經(jīng)歷可以說(shuō)是申請(qǐng)PhD必需的,并且工作實(shí)習(xí)經(jīng)歷在美國(guó)學(xué)??磥?lái)也是豐富閱歷、幫助申請(qǐng)者確定了發(fā)展方向的重要經(jīng)歷。而專業(yè)論文則是研究經(jīng)歷中的內(nèi)容和專業(yè)研究水平的具體表現(xiàn),比簡(jiǎn)歷中的簡(jiǎn)要描述更有說(shuō)服力。 美國(guó)留學(xué)各大學(xué)面試注意事項(xiàng) 1、耶魯大學(xué) 學(xué)校對(duì)學(xué)生的態(tài)度是非常重視的,這部分的考核主要是通過(guò)面試進(jìn)行的,學(xué)生在期間要保持比較好的禮儀,不能夠?qū)ぷ魅藛T或者其他的學(xué)生不禮貌,不良記錄會(huì)直接影響入學(xué)資格。 2、布朗大學(xué) 作為熱門(mén)學(xué)校,審核人員每天要看的文件是特別多的,建議大家嚴(yán)格遵照要求進(jìn)行材料的準(zhǔn)備,而且注意標(biāo)準(zhǔn)化的展示,這樣能夠晉升審核的效率,也會(huì)比較受到工作人員的青睞。 3、斯坦福大學(xué) 篩選初步完成以后,學(xué)校會(huì)進(jìn)行認(rèn)真的選拔,大家這時(shí)候要想盡快的進(jìn)入到組中錄取的名單,就應(yīng)該展示出自己的不同之處,尤其是優(yōu)勢(shì)方面,一定要確定的可以讓審核的工作人員看到。 4、芝加哥大學(xué) 重視個(gè)性化的芝加哥,在學(xué)校教育中也傳承了這一特色,為了保證學(xué)校內(nèi)班級(jí)的多樣性,學(xué)校會(huì)實(shí)時(shí)的調(diào)整自己的錄取標(biāo)準(zhǔn),來(lái)完善在讀學(xué)生的結(jié)果情況,所以有可能會(huì)出行符合列舉要求但沒(méi)被錄取的情況。 5、西北大學(xué) 目前依舊失信者早申請(qǐng)?jiān)?/p>
