15、卻不肯說出來。(他知道這個秘密)In most places around the world , frowning and turning ones back to someone shows anger .turn 作系動詞,表示“變色;變質”等,后面接形容詞作表語,如接名詞,則不用冠詞。例如:Leaves turn yellow in autumn.秋天,樹葉變黃。When he saw the letter , his face turned red . 看到這封信時,他的臉紅了。The milk has turned sour.牛奶酸了。After graduation , he t
16、urned doctor . 畢業(yè)后,他當了醫(yī)生.辨析: turn ,change, become, go 的用法區(qū)別turn 表示”逐漸改變”;change 有”完全改變或改變其本來性質”的意思.become 表示成為,是普通用語,一般不表示”未來的事”,多表示”過去完成的事”.go 表示某物變質,勝利殘缺等.如 go bad , go blind , go mad 等相關短語:turn around 轉身,反復思考turn away 走開,拒絕turn in 上繳,告發(fā)turn off 關掉turn to 求助,致力于at every turn 事事,處處,常常take turns 依次,
17、輪流turn over 打翻,移交,交給,翻身turn out 生產,制造turn down 調低,關小,拒絕turn into 進入,變成turn on 打開,對發(fā)怒turn up 出現(xiàn)in turn 依次,輪流turn back 折回,擋住,使折回There are many ways around the world to show agreement , but nodding the head up and down is used for agreement almost worldwide . 在世界各地,有許多表示同意的方式,但是幾乎世界范圍內上下點頭表示同意. agreeme

You cheated me last time and I wont believe you this time / next time. 你上次騙了我,這一次/下一次我不會相信你了.(2) believe 表示”認為”,后面一般接that 從句或復合賓語. 例如: People used to believe that the earth was the centre of the universe. 從前人們認為地球是宇宙的中心. I believe we should
21、buy the smaller one . 我覺得我們因該買比較小的那個.拓展: believe in 的用法:believe in 表示”信仰;信賴”.例如: Jack believed in life after death.杰克相信死后有來世.Do you believe in ghosts ?你相信有鬼么?(2) believe in 也可以表示”相信;信任”,相當于trust.例如:I believe in your innocence.我相信你是無辜的.注意:believe sb 意為”相信某人所說的話”;believe in sb 意為”信任某人”,指相信人的品格,作風,為人等方
22、面的情況.(3) believe in 后接動名詞,表示”主張,贊成”,相當于support.例如:He doesnt believe in sending his children away to a boarding-school.他不贊成把孩子們送到寄宿學校去。(4) believe in 還可表示“相信.有價值;認為.有好處”。例如:Helen believes in jogging is good for her health. 海倫相信慢跑對她的健康有益。Being respectful to people is subjective , based on each culture
23、 , but in general it is probably not a good idea to give a hug to a boss or teacher.對人的尊敬是主觀的,是以每一種文化為基礎的,但總的說來,擁抱一位老板或老師很可能是不妥當?shù)南敕āespectful為形容詞,意為“恭敬的;敬重的”。例如:He is respectful of his parents opinions. 他很尊重他的父母的意見。拓展:(1)respect為不可數(shù)名詞,意為“尊敬”。常用短語:show / have respect for sb.例如:I have great respect f
24、or journalists , but I dont know why. 我對記者非常尊敬,但不知道是什么原因。She has no respect for the manager. 她一點也不尊敬經理。(2)respect vt . 尊敬,敬重。例如:All children should respect their parents. 所有孩子都應該尊敬父母。You should respect the opinions of your friends . 你應該尊重朋友們的意見。We can often be wrong about each other , so it is an am
25、azing thing that we understand each other as well as we do !amazing 的意思與surprising , astonishing 接近,常用作定語。例如:The new car is running at an amazing speed . 那輛新的小汽車正以驚人的速度行使。我們常常令彼此誤解,因此如果我們盡可能地做到彼此了解,那就太好了!拓展:(1)amaze 用作及物動詞,意為“使驚訝”。例如:It amazed me to hear that your were leaving. 聽說你要走我很驚訝。Visitors we
26、re amazed at the achievements in the car manufacture of the city during the past decade. 參觀者對這座城市過去十年中在汽車制造工業(yè)方面的成就感到驚奇。(2)有類似用法的動詞還有:excite,satisfy,move ,interest,shock,disappoint,puzzle,surprise, worry ,please ,bore,annoy,astonish等。例如:The news astonished everybody.這個消息使每個人都感到驚訝。He was astonished at
27、 what he had found. 他發(fā)現(xiàn)的情況使他十分驚訝。We were astonished to hear that their football team had won the chionship.聽說他們的球隊贏得了冠軍,我們很驚訝。 如果你把眼光從某人身上移開, 或者打了個哈欠, 這個人就可能會認為你對他不感興趣。Looking away from people or yawning will , in most cases , make me appear to be uninterested. look away from(1) not look at 不看,不注視 D
