What did you do during that year?M: Well, Id like to say that I got plenty of work experience but what I di

I went over to Australia for the year and spent the time traveling and working all around the country.13 At the end I went to New Zealand and traveled around there for a couple of months.W: What kind of work did you do out there?M: It was fairly menial stuff. I delivered furniture, wor

32、ked in a pub, worked in a hotel and worked on a building site for a couple of months too.14W: Working on a building site must have been some good experience for engineering?M: I suppose so. I mean it was interesting to see the brass tacks side of things and a good engineer has to get his hands dirty

Firstly, he wondered about the consequences of a global society for the individual and, particularly, the many different ways in which different nations convey emotion.23 He asked, since we feel and experien

58、ce things at different times, in different ways and different climates, would it ever be possible to have only one language?24 If so, how could it incorporate this confusion of different needs? Similarly, he doubted whether it would ever be feasible to have one law or one government for all.3 Chatea

59、ubriands visions of the future were based, not on the technologies of the Internet and the airplane, but rather on the telegraph, which revolutionized the communication system of the time, and of course steam, which opened up the world of business in a way that no other transport system had before.2
