2012.11.08點(diǎn)Doyouagreeordisagreewiththefollowingstatement?Youngpeopletodayaremorelikelytohelpothersthanyoungpeopleinthepast.Usespecificexamplestosupportyouranswer.Inourcountrytherehasalwaysbeenaspiritofvolunteerism.Aschildren,wearetaughtthathelthoselessfortunateisourresponsibility.Butunfortunay,thegrowingprosperityofthenationhasplacedanemphasisonmaterialismandindividualsuccess,creatingagenerationofyouththatdonotunderstandthemeaningofbeingselfless.Ibelieveyoungpeopletodayarenotascharitableaspreviousgenerationsofyoungpeople.ThemainreasonsIamsoskepticaloftheinclinationoftoday’syouthtohelppeopleisthattheyarespoiled.IrememberwhenIwasyoungandusingacomputeratthepubliclibrarywasaprivilege.WhenmyparentsboughtmemyowncomputerwhenIwenttouniversity,Iunderstoodhowmuchtheysacrificedtogivemethatasapresent.Nowadays,childrenseeexpensivecomputers,liketheiPadand,asanecessity,notaprivilege.Theyreceiveallthesekindsofgiftswithoutcomprehendinghowmuchtheirparentssacrificetogivethemtheverybestinthelatesttechnology.Theydonotknowwhatitistobewithout.Ibelievethishascreatedagenerationofselfishyoungpeoplewhodonotunderstandandcannotempathizewiththoselessfortunate,makingthemlesslikelytofeelcompelledtohelpothers.Inaddition,Ithinkthisgenerationhasnotlearnedtorespectothers.Trappedintheirowndigitalworld,theyareunawareofthedisrespecttheyshowtheirelderswhentheyignoretheirparentsandgrandparentsastheytextandtalkontheirs.Maybethatisnotthesolecause,butIseeadistinctdifferencebetweenhowtheybehaveandhowmygenerationbehavedatthatage.Forexample,whenridingthebus,itiscommonplacetoofferyourseat[give/sendaseat]toanelderlygentlemanorlady.Now,whenIridethebus,Iconstantlyseeyoungpeoplewhoaresittingintheseatsspecificallyforseniorcitizensandwhobasicallyrefusetovacatetheseatwhenaseniorcitizenentersthebus.Instead,theypretendtobemoreabsorbedinthegameontheirs,pretendingtobeunawareoftheirobligationtooffertheirchairtothoseinneed.Today’syoutharesowrappedintheirownself-intereststhattheyaredisrespectfulanddonotwillinglyhelpthoseinneed.Admittedly,itisnotentirelycorrecttosaythatallyoungpeopleareselfishanddonothelpothers.Thenumberofvolunteerorganizationsinschoolsandcommunitysuggeststhattherearemanyyouthswhounderstandtheimportanceofhelourfellowman.Iamcertaintherearemanystudentswhofull-heartedlybelieveinvolunteerismandcharity,butIthinkthatingeneraltheseschoolvolunteerprogramsserveaselfishend.Volunteeringhasmoreorless
