astronomer,geophysicist,mathematician,meteorologist,andphysicist.In1686Halleypublishedthesecondpartofhisexpedition,beingapaperandchartontradewindsandmonsoons.Inthisheidentifiedsolarheatingasthecauseofatmosphericmotions.Healsoestablishedtherelationshipbetweenbarometricpressureandheightabovesealevel.SinglecellmodelGeorgeHadley(1735)Theearthiswarmedattheequator.AirexpandsupwardanddivergestowardthepoleAtthepoleaircoolsandflowsbacktowardtheequatorSinglecellmodelBecausetheearthisrotatingthewindisshiftedtotheright(leftinSH)NotaveryrealisticmodelGeorgeHadley(February12,1685–June28,1768)wasanEnglishlawyerandamateurmeteorologistwhoproposedtheatmosphericmechanismbywhichtheTradeWindsaresustained.HerelatedthedirectionoftradewindstotherotationoftheEarthinhisfamouspaper"ConcerningtheCauseoftheGeneralTradeWinds,"publishedin1735.coolingheating
