FirstIhadtolearnGerman.IwentMunichinSeptember,amonthbeforethetermstarted,andspentthreeweeksonalanguagecourse.IstayedwithaGermanfamilyandwasabletopracticespeakingthelanguagewiththem.NobodyspokeNorwegian,ofcourse,soitwasagreathelptofindthattherewereotherstudentsfromNorwayattheuniversity.Imadefriendswithsomeofthemandwewereabletohelponeanotherduringthefirstfewweeksinanewcity.AftersixmonthsImovedintomyownapartment;thereisawonderfulmixofculturesandIhavemademanyfriendsfromdifferentplaces.ForthreeyearsIhadaNorwegianboyfriendwhowasalsostudyingtobeadoctor,butthatendedwhenheleft.

Iwouldrecommendstudyingabroadtoanyone.Yougetachancetolearnanotherlanguageandtounderstandthecultureandtraditionsofanothercountry.Munichisafantasticcityforstudents,especiallyasbeeristhefavoritedrinkofstudentseverywhere.Ididn’tlikebeerbefore,butifyouliveinMunich,therereallyisnoalternative,andnowIhaveacquiredthetaste.InwinterIprefertovisitcafésandtalkwithfriends,butinsummermyfavoriteplaceistheEnglisherGarten,withitslakeandparkandlotsofbars.Thecity’sbeerhallsaregenerallyfullofstudentsandtourists.
