復(fù)活節(jié)（Easter），是紀(jì)念耶穌基督復(fù)活的節(jié)日，西方信基督教的國家都過這個節(jié)。在西方教會傳統(tǒng)里，春分之后第一次滿月之后的第一個星期日即為復(fù)活節(jié)。東方教會則規(guī)定，如果滿月恰逢星期日，則復(fù)活節(jié)再推遲一周。因此，節(jié)期大致在3月22日至4月25日之間。復(fù)活節(jié)是最古老最有意義的基督教節(jié)日之一，慶祝的是基督的復(fù)活，世界各地的基督徒每年都要舉行慶祝。復(fù)活節(jié)還象征重生和希望。2010年的復(fù)活節(jié)是4月4日。

每年11月的第四個星期四是感恩節(jié)。感恩節(jié)是美國人民獨(dú)創(chuàng)的—個古老節(jié)日，也是美國人合家歡聚的節(jié)日，因此美國人提起感恩節(jié)總是倍感親切。

追根溯源，感恩節(jié)是和美洲古代的印第安人，特別是和玉米的種植有十分密切的關(guān)系。1620年9月6日，一批英國清教徒難以忍受宗教的迫害，搭乘“五月花號

”木船駛往美洲。他們在疲勞、饑餓、寒冷和疾病的襲擊下在大西洋上漂泊了65天，最后到達(dá)北美殖民地的普利茅斯。

在第一個冬天，半數(shù)人以上都死于饑餓和傳染病，活下來的人們在第一個春季開始播種，整個夏天他們都熱切地盼望著豐收的到來他們深知自己的生存將取決于即將到來的收成。后來，莊稼獲得了豐收，所以大家決定要選一個日子來感謝上帝的恩典。直至1863年，美國總統(tǒng)林肯宣布把感恩節(jié)定為全國性的節(jié)日。
