Abstract:AsoneoftheancientChinesemythologicaldocuments,Shanhaijingcontainsvariouscreatures,includingthenine-tailedfoxwhichhaslongbeenapopularthemeinartandliterature.Basedontheimageryofthenine-tailedfoxinShanhaijing,thispaperexploresthecontemporaryinkpainting’swaysofrepresentationandanalysisandevaluatestheeffectsofitsinterpretation.

First,thispaperanalyzestheliteraryimageofthenine-tailedfoxinShanhaijingandinvestigatesitssymbolicmeaningandculturalconnotation.Second,itexaminesthewaysthatcontemporaryinkpaintingdepictstheimageofthenine-tailedfox,includingcolor,form,composition,andbrushwork.Finally,thispaperevaluatestheeffectsofcontemporaryinkpainting'sinterpretationofthenine-tailedfoximageandputsforwardsuggestionsforthedevelopmentofinkpaintinginthefuture.
