AsvoicenetworksblockedincomingcallstoNewYorkinordertorelievecongestion,somecarderspushedtheirvoicetrafficovertheInternet.ITXC,whichspecializesinInternetvoiceservices,sawitsdomesticwholesalebusinessdoubleonSeptember11ascarrierssearchedfornewchannelsofcommunication;Yahoo'sPCtoPhonecallingserviceincreasedby59percent.Theperformanceofthesevoice-over-IPservicessuggeststhatinonlyahandfulofyearsmostvoicetrafficislikelytobecardedontheInternet.
