翻譯適應(yīng)選擇論視角下的旅游景點(diǎn)文本英譯探析TranslationandAnalysisofTouristAttractionTextfromthePerspectiveofAdaptationSelectionTheoryTourismhasbecomeoneofthemostpopularleisureactivitiesinmodernsociety,andtheinformationaboutvarioustouristattractionsisaccessiblethroughdifferentmediachannels.However,therepresentationoftouristattractionsintextsisnotneutralandobjectivebutrathersubjecttodifferentcommunicativestrategies,suchaspersuasionandadaptationtothetargetaudience'sexpectationsandpreferences.Inthisregard,theadaptationselectiontheoryprovidesausefulframeworkforanalyzinghowtouristattractiontextsareconstructedandtranslatedtoappealtospecificaudiences.Theadaptationselectiontheory,articulatedbyJakobson(1960),positsthatcommunicationinvolvestheselectionandadaptationoflinguisticandculturalfeaturestofacilitateeffectivemessagetransmission.Accordingtothetheory,thespeakerorwritermustconsiderthesender,receiver,message,context,andchannelwhenencodinganddecodingmessages.Inthecaseoftouristattractiontexts,thesenderisthetouristindustryorattractionmanagement,thereceiveristhepotentialvisitororcustomer,themessageistheinformationabouttheattraction,thecontextisthetourismmarketandculture,andthechannelisthemediumofcommunication.Theadaptationselectiontheoryimpliesthattouristattractiontextsmustbetailoredtothetargetaudience'slinguisticandculturalbackground,knowledge,values,andexpectationstoincreasetheirattractivenessandappeal.Toillustratetheapplicationoftheadaptationselectiontheoryintourismtexts,weanalyzedasampletextfromtheGreatWallinChina,whichisoneofthemostfamoustouristattractionsintheworld.TheoriginalChinesetextanditsEnglishtranslationarepresentedbelow:Chinese:長(zhǎng)城,分為明長(zhǎng)城、遼長(zhǎng)城等,是中國(guó)古代的軍事工程之一,是中國(guó)歷史上著名的建筑之一,也是世界文化遺產(chǎn)之一?,F(xiàn)存秦漢遺址,即萬(wàn)里長(zhǎng)城與明清長(zhǎng)城,長(zhǎng)達(dá)數(shù)千里。長(zhǎng)城由磚、石、土等修成,少數(shù)地方用黃土加石取代泥土。長(zhǎng)城地勢(shì)險(xiǎn)峻,氣候惡劣,各處險(xiǎn)峻高低起伏不斷,就像一條長(zhǎng)龍起伏著。因此,視線(xiàn)所及在大約30公里范圍內(nèi)感受長(zhǎng)城的壯美非常容易。English:TheGreatWall,includingtheMingWall,LiaoWall,andothersections,isoneoftheancientmilitaryprojectsinChina,famousforitshistoricalsignificanceandarchitecturalwonders,andisoneoftheworldculturalheritages.WithruinsoftheQinandHanDynasties,theGreatWallstretchesthousandsofmiles,includingtheMingandQingwalls.TheGreatWallwasbuiltwithbricks,stones,andsoil,withafewplacesusingyellowsoilandstonesinsteadofmud.TheGreatWallhassteepterrainandharshclimate,withvaryinghighandlowelevationseverywhere,likealongdragonundulating.Therefore,withinabout30kilometers,thebeautyandgrandeuroftheGreatWallcanbeeasilyperceived.TheanalysisoftheChineseandEnglishtextrevealsvariouslinguisticandculturaladaptationsmadetoappealtothetargetaudience,presumablyEnglish-speakingforeignersorglobaltourists.Firstly,theEnglishversionemphasizesthekeypointsoftheGreatWall'ssignificance,suchasitsmilitaryorigin,architecturalwonders,historicalandculturalimportance,andworldheritagestatus.ThesefeaturesarehighlightedtoattracttouristswhoareinterestedinChinesehistoryandculture,architecture,orUNESCOworldheritagesites.Secondly,theEnglishversionusessimplerandmorefamiliarwordsandsentencestructurescomparedtotheoriginalChinesetext,whichcontainsmorecomplexandformalwordsandexpressions.Thisadaptationaimstofacilitatetheunderstandinganddecodingofthemessagebyaudienceswhomaynothaveahighprofici
