“派對”是英文party的音譯，其含義為asocialgatheringforpleasureorentertainment,即社交聚會。

它是人們聚在一起慶祝和休閑的一種方式，旨在聯(lián)絡(luò)情感、交談和放松。派對的典型特征包括飲食、音樂歌舞或其他娛樂活動。西方派對文化體現(xiàn)了人與人之間積極溝通和交往的態(tài)度。

西方英語國家的派對五花八門、名目繁多。從類型上看，許多關(guān)乎社交，如：birthdayparty，surpriseparty，dinnerparty，teaparty，housewarmingparty（喬遷聚會），welcomeparty，end-of-termschoolparty等；也有一些涉及節(jié)日，如：NewYearparty，Easterparty等。從參加者的年齡及性別特點著眼，派對的形式包括partiesforteenagersandyoungadults，henparty（只有女性參加的聚會）及stagparty（只有男性參加的聚會）等。

西方國家的“派對”

從地點上看，除個人在家庭中舉辦的派對外，還有學(xué)校、機構(gòu)在單位舉辦的聯(lián)誼、慶?；顒?，以及在賓館、飯店、酒吧舉辦的正式及休閑派對，如dancesandballs（社交舞會），blockparty（社區(qū)或街區(qū)歡聚），costumeorfancydressparty（化裝舞會）。還有一些專門設(shè)在戶外舉辦，例如seashoreparty，bonfireparty（篝火聯(lián)歡會）。甚至有些派對主辦者會收取門票費用。

一般派對有正式和非正式之分，大致可分成三種類型：聚集式、家庭式和宴會式。

聚集式：一種較隨意的聚會，只要主辦人提前發(fā)個邀請，說明時間地點就行了。到了那天，各人帶上自己做的飯菜或買來的食品，包括點心、飲料、水果等，放在一起，供來者分享。

家庭式：以節(jié)日或其他理由邀請客人前來參加的聚會。通常都是主人款待一切，來客多為熟人，也就無須過于拘禮。但米國人常常還延續(xù)一些歐洲人的習(xí)慣，給主人家?guī)弦稽c小禮品，如鮮花、小工藝品、水果、點心等以示友好，增添歡喜。

宴會式：較為正式，多為雞尾酒會形式。會場內(nèi)設(shè)有椅子，大家站著隨意交流，吃的也是簡單但卻精致的自助餐。
