第頁共頁理論與實踐的結合——探究《半截蠟燭》英語教案設計的有效性Theintegrationoftheoryandpracticeisacrucialaspectofeducation.Itiswidelyacceptedthatbothareequallyimportantandshouldnotbeseparatefromoneanother.Theoryprovidesthenecessaryknowledgeandunderstandingwhilepracticeisthemeansbywhichthisknowledgeisappliedinreal-lifesituations.Inthispaper,wewillexploretheeffectivenessofaspecificEnglishlessonplandesignedtointroducetheshortstory"HalfaCandle"tostudentsinChina.Thefocusofanalysiswillbeonhowthelessonplansuccessfullyintegratestheoreticalconceptswithpracticalapplication.Background:"HalfaCandle"isastorywrittenbyLuXun,afamousChinesewriterwhoplayedaninstrumentalroleinshapingmodernChineseliterature.Thestorydealswiththethemesofpoverty,oppression,andthestruggleforsurvival.ThisstoryisanimportantpartofChineseliterarycanonwhichiswhyitwaschosenforthislessonplan.ThelessonplanwasdesignedbyateamofexperiencedEnglishteacherswhocollaboratedwithChineseliteratureexpertstoensurethatthetheoreticalandpracticalaspectswerewellintegratedandrelevanttothetargetaudience.Themainobjectiveofthelessonwastohelpstudentsdeveloptheirlanguageskillswhilealsogaininginsightintotheculturalandhistoricalcontextsurroundingthestory.TheoreticalFramework:Thetheoreticalframeworkofthelessonplanwasfoundedonacombinationoflanguageacquisitiontheoriesandculturalstudies.TheteachersincorporatedavarietyofteachingstrategiesthatwereinlinewiththeCommunicativeLanguageTeaching(CLT)approachwhichemphasizestheimportanceofcreatingopportunitiesforstudentstouselanguageforreal-lifecommunication.TheteachersalsomadeuseofCriticalPedagogywhichemphasizedaholisticapproachtoeducationandemphasizedtheimportanceofdevelopinganalyticalskillsthroughtheunderstandingofbroadersocialcontexts.ThePracticalApplicationoftheLessonPlan:Thelessonbeganwithanintroductiontothestoryandthebackgroundinformationsurroundingit.Theteachersusedavarietyofmultimediatoolssuchasvideosandimagestohelpstudentsvisualizethesettingandcontextofthestory.Thiswasfollowedbyapre-readingactivitywherestudentsweregivenalistofvocabularywordsthattheywouldneedtobefamiliarwith.Afterthat,thestudentsreadthestoryandwereaskedtoreflectonthethemesandsymbolismusedinthestory.Thestudentswerethendividedintogroupswheretheyhadtoanswercomprehensionquestionsandengageindiscussionsaboutthestory.Thenextphaseinvolvedthestudentswritingsummariesofthestoryintheirownwords.Thisactivityhelpedtoreinforcethelanguageskillsandalsoencouragedstudentstothinkcriticallyaboutthestory.Thefinalphaseofthelessonplaninvolvedthestudentspresentingtheirsummariestotheclassandengaginginadebateaboutthethemesofthestory.Thiswasanimportantaspectofthelessonasitencouragedstudentstoapplythetheoreticalconceptstoreal-lifeapplications.Conclusion:Thelessonplanwassuccessfulinintegratingthetheoreticalconceptsoflanguageacquisitionandculturalstudieswithpracticalapplication.Theuseofmultimediamaterialsandinteractivelearningactivitieshelpedtocreateanengaginglearningenvironmentthatwasconducivetoeffectivelearning.TheCLTandCriticalPedagogyapproacheswereintegratedwiththeaimofenablingstudentstodeveloptheirlanguageskillsandanalyticalthinking.Theuseofgroupwork,debates,anddiscussionshelpedtoreinforcetheseconceptsandencouragedstudentstothinkcriticallyaboutthethemesofthestory.Overall,thelessonplanwaseffectiveinenablingstudentstolearnEnglishwhilealsogaini
