Grammar連詞conjunction是一種連接詞與詞,短語與短語以及句與句的虛詞,它不能獨(dú)立擔(dān)任句子成分而只起連接作用。Part1and,but,or,soand“和;又;而且”1.“和”表達(dá)并列關(guān)系e.g.Sheissmart,andsheworkshard.Iamactiveandenergetic.Iloveworkingwithpeople.

→2.“又”表達(dá)順承關(guān)系順承:連接的是連續(xù)發(fā)生的事情或動(dòng)作,這些事情或動(dòng)作有先后順序

e.g.Shelookedattheteacherandwenton.

他看了看老師又繼續(xù)向前走。3.“而且”表達(dá)遞進(jìn)關(guān)系Iamactiveandenergetic,andIloveworkingwithpeople.and表示并列but“但是;然而”1.表達(dá)轉(zhuǎn)折關(guān)系,所連接的成分意思往往相反或相對(duì)。e.g.Ilikeapple,butIdon’tlikeapplejuice.我喜歡蘋果但我不喜歡蘋果汁。2.Hedoesn'tliketotalkmuch.Hisworkshouts.

→注意:but和although、though不能一起使用。Hedoesn'tliketotalkmuch,butheisworkshouts.but表示轉(zhuǎn)折or“或者;否則”1.“或者”表達(dá)選擇關(guān)系e.g."Teaormilk?"Jackasked.Icanbeagoodteacher.Icanbeagooddoctor.

Icanbeagoodteacher_____agooddoctor.注意:在否定句中并列成分通常用or連接,而不用and。IcannotspeakChineseorEnglish.2.“否則”表達(dá)條件關(guān)系

Mymotherisworriedaboutmystudy.Part2both…and…notonly…but(also)…either…or…neither…nor…both…and…兩者都1.表示兩者都,連接兩個(gè)性質(zhì)相同并在句中作相同成分的并行結(jié)構(gòu).謂語動(dòng)詞用復(fù)數(shù)Kittyhasknownsomethingaboutthefourpeople.Ihaveknownsomethingaboutthefourpeople.

→Both

KittyandIhaveknownsomethingaboutthefourpeople.2.含both的句子變?yōu)榉穸〞r(shí),是將both改為neither。

Bothoftheboysareclever.

→Neitheroftheboysareclever.含both…and…的句子變?yōu)榉穸ň鋾r(shí),將both…and…改為neither…nor..,連接的兩個(gè)部分若是名詞,可以是單數(shù),也可以是復(fù)數(shù)。Iknowboththemanandthewoman.→兩個(gè)男孩都聰明。兩個(gè)男孩都不聰明。Iknowneitherthemannorthewoman.notonly…but(also)…不但……而且…… 在句中常用來連接兩個(gè)對(duì)等的成分,also可以省略。如:e.g.HeislearningnotonlyEnglishbut(also)French.

Carelessnesswillbeadisastertoourselves.Carelessnesswillbeadisastertopatients.→Carelessnesswillbeadisasternotonlytoourselvesbut(also)topatients.2.notonly...but(also)...用來連接兩個(gè)主語時(shí),謂語動(dòng)詞的單、復(fù)數(shù)遵循“就近原則”,即和but(also)后的名詞或代詞的數(shù)一致。如:NotonlyLilybutalsoherparentsarefondofwatchingfootballmatches.不僅莉莉,她的父母也喜歡看足球比賽。Notonlyyoubutalsoheistiredofhavingoneexaminationafteranother.不僅你,他也厭倦一次接一次的考試。【注意】:

1、就近。指謂語形式取決于離它近的主語。

NotonlythestudentsbutalsotheteacherreadsEnglisheveryday.

2、一致。notonly與butalso后面所接的詞類要一致。

Shecannotonlysingbutalsodance.

【用法小結(jié)】

notonly…butalso應(yīng)連接兩個(gè)相對(duì)稱的并列成分。例如:

NotonlyMrLinbutalsohisson

joinedthePartytwoyearsago.(連接兩個(gè)主語)

Inotonlyplaytennisbutalsopractiseshooting.(連接兩個(gè)謂語動(dòng)詞)

(連接兩個(gè)地點(diǎn)狀語)either…or…"或者……或者……;不是……就是……"either:指兩者中的任意一個(gè)。either...or...表示兩者之一,連接句子中兩個(gè)并列的成分。
