TASK:FAMILIARITYWITHTHECONTROLSYSTEMSFORGAMESANDEQUIPMENTANDTHEPRODUCTIONOFANINVENTORYANDCONTROLSYSTEM.
STANDARD:THEASSISTANTANDTHESUPERVISORWILLJOINTLYPRODUCEANINVENTORYOFALLEQUIPMENTANDACONTROLSYSTEMFORTHEISSUEOFGAMESANDEQUIPMENT.EACHWILLBESIMPLEANDEFFECTIVE.
PROCEDURE:
TheassistantandSupervisorwillproduceaninventoryofalldepartmentalequipment.Thisinventorywillbecheckedatintervals.
Fromtheinventory,theywillalsoproduceacontrolsystemfortheissueandreclaimofallgamesandsportsequipment.AllstaffwillbeawareofhowthesystemworksandhowtoissueandreclaimequipmentfromtheBeachBureandActivitiesDesk.
Inventory
Theinventoryissimplyalistorrecordofallequipmentthedepartmenthasatitsdisposal.Itservesthepurposeofensuringthattheequipmentisaccountedforandthatifanyequipmentgoesmissing,weareawareofit.
TheControlSystem
Two“Equipmentissue”bookswillbeopened.OneforusebehindtheActivitiesDeskandoneforusebehindtheBeachBure.NoChargewillbemadeforissueoftheequipment,butitshouldbereturnedby5p.m.totheplaceofissue.EquipmentissuedattheActivitiesDeskmaystayoutovernight.

Itisvitalthatalequipmentbeinventoriedandthenitsusemonitored.Thiswillissuetheequipmentagainstlossortheftandwillserveasanefficientrecordofrepairsneeded.

PROCEDURE:
WheneveraninstructorteachesasailinglessonontheHobieCat,he/sheshouldfollowthereguidelinessothateachinstructorisgivingoutthesameinformation.Thedemonstrationhobieshouldberiggedandreadyinfrontofthegrouporindividual,andanyotherequipmentneededshouldbeattheready.LIFEJACKETSSHOULDBEOFFERED.

Introduceyourselftothegrouporindividualandgetnames,andanindicationofhowmuchsailingtheyhavedonebefore.Explainthatthiswillbeabasiclessonaimedatteachingthebasicsandgettingthemgoingasquicklyaspossible.Explainthatitwillbea3partlesson:

Accompaniedstagewithinstructor.
Solosail–iftheychoosetodoit.

Explainthebasicpartsoftheboat–thenamesofthetwosails–thefourcontrolsoftheboatTiller,Daggerboard,Mainsheet,Jibsheets.
Showthepositionsofthehelmsmanandcrewandwhatcontrolstheyhavetotakecareof:

Intheeventofalargegroup,thisstagewouldinvolvetakingguestsoutinpairsfor15minutesaccompaniedinstruction.

Beforethisstagetheinstructorwouldcalmlymentionwhattodointheeventofacapsize.Thisstagewouldonlybeattemptediftheguestiscomfortable,theinstructorisconvincedhe/sheisready,andtheweatherissuitable.
Theinstructorwouldexplainthelimitstostaywithinandwouldassistwiththelaunchandrecovery.Ifpossibleonlylettheguestssailonreaches.
Theinstructorwouldwatchthesolosailorsforthedurationofthesail.Safetyisvital.
Conclusion
Toconclude,theinstructorwillgetthegrouptogetherforasummaryofallthingscovered.

PROCEDURE:
Thewaterpoloactivitywillbeheldinthemainpoolandcouldbeachildren’soradultsevent.Thesestepsshouldbefollowed:
Ensurethatallequipmentissetupbeforehand,andthateverythingneededisreadyatthepoolside.Equipmentneededincludes;ball,goals,waterpolocaps,skibelts,blackboardchalk,whistleandasafetypole.
EnsurethatallguestsatthepoolsideknowthattheeventisabouttotakeplaceandhowlongitwilltakeEncourageparticipation.
Whenguestsaregathered,explaintherules:
Safetyatalltimes–iftireddropout,noduckingetc.
Noholdingtheballwhenmoving.Youmustswimwhilepushingit.
Aftereachgoaltheballcomesbacktothereferee.
Scorewillbekeptontheblackboard.Explainlengthofgameorscoretobereached.
Giveoutswimcapsandpickteams.Thiscanbedoneanyway,forexamplebycountries,bysex,byageoratrandom.Anyonerequiringskibeltforbuoyancywillbegivenone.
Beginthematch–refereeconstantlyandwatcheachplayertoensurethegameissafe;keepaconstantscoredisplayed.

Thedemonstrationattendantwillthensailouttothepositionoftheregattabuoy.Ashecomesuptothebuoyonthefirstrunthelandbasedattendantwillintroducetheheaddipandguestswillseeitcarriedout.Asthedemonstratorreturnstothebuoytheinstructorwillexplainthenexttrick,andagainintroduceitasthedemonstratorcomesuptothebuoy.Eachtrickwillbedoneinthesamedirection.
