用從句來表達一件事情或一個行為發(fā)生的時間,這個從句就叫時間狀語從句。

不同的引導詞引導的時間狀語從句的意思也不同，常見的引導詞有when，while，before，after，until，since和assoonas。時間狀語從句一、when引導的時間狀語從句

when引導的時間狀語從句既可以表示點時間，也可以表示時間的延續(xù)，即表示一段時間，因此從句的謂語動詞既可以是瞬間動詞，也可以是延續(xù)性動詞。此外，從句的動作既可與主句的動作同時發(fā)生，也可先后發(fā)生。e.g.

when與while都意為“當……的時候”。when引導的時間狀語從句,謂語動詞既可以是持續(xù)性的,也可以是終止性的；而while引導的時間狀語從句,謂語動詞只能是持續(xù)性的,并且常用進行時態(tài)。試比較：When

√辨析三、before引導的時間狀語從句

before表示主句的動作發(fā)生在從句之前。e.g.Ican’ttellyouwhathappenedbeforehecomesback.他回來之前我不能告訴你發(fā)生什么了。四、after引導的時間狀語從句

after表示主句的動作發(fā)生在從句的動作之后。e.g.Aftershefinishedthetask,sheenjoyedahappyvacation.完成任務后，她好好地度了一個假。五、assoonas引導的時間狀語從句

assoonas表示主句的動作緊隨從句動作之后發(fā)生的。表示“一……就”。e.g.IwillcallyouassoonasIarrivehome.我一到家就給你打電話。六、until引導的時間狀語從句

until（till）在肯定句中，常與延續(xù)性動詞連用，意為“到……為止”；在否定句中，常與表示瞬間性動作的動詞連用，意為“直到……才”。e.g.Ididn’trealizemymistakeuntilhetoldme.
