TheChryslerCorporation,foundedin1924,usedtobeoneofthethreelargestAmerican

automobilemanufacturerswhosebrandsincludebothpassengerandcommercialvehiclessuchas

GeneralMotorsandFord.Inadditiontoautomaking,Chryslerisalsoengagedinfinancial

services,providingloanservices(mostly)tocarbuyers.In1998itmergedwithDaimler-BenzAG

(ofGermany)(bestknownforitsMercedes-Benzbrandname)tobecomepartofthe

Daimlei*ChryslerCorporation,whichisjointlyownedbyEuropean,U.S.andotherinternational

investors.

U.S.SecuritiesandExchangeCommission(SEC)

AU.S.governmentagency,whosemissionistoprotectinvestorsandmaintaintheintegrity

ofthesecuritiesmarkets.TheCommissionwassetupbytheU.S.Congressin1933inresponseto

“BlackMonday",theGreatStockMarketCrashof1929.Itspurposewastorestoreinvestor

confidenceintheU.S.capitalmarketsbyprovidingmorestructureandgovernmentoversight.Itis

basedontheconceptthatallinvestors,whetherlargeinstitutionsorprivateindividuals,should

whichprovidesacommonpoolofknowledgeforallinvestorstousetojudgeforthemselvesifa

company'ssecuritiesareagoodinvestment.Itisbelievedthatonlythroughthesteadyflowof

timely,comprehensiveandaccurateinformationcanpeoplemakesoundinvestmentdecisions.At

presenttheSECiscomprisedoffivepresidentially-appointedCommissioners,fourDivisionsand

TheInternationalChamberofCommerce

TheaimoftheInternationalChamberofCommerce(ICC),foundedin1919,istoserve

worldbusinessbypromotingtradeandinvestment,openmarketsforgoodsandservices,andthe

freeflowofcapital.Itsactivitiescoverabroadspectrum,fromarbitrationanddisputeresolutionto

makingthecaseforopentradeandthemarketeconomysystem,businessself-regulation,fighting

corruptionorcombatingcommercialcrime.TheICCismadeofaWorldCouncil(itsgoverning

body)andindividualnationalcommitteesandgroups.Individualcompanies,corporations,

professionalassociationsaswellasindividualscanalsojointheICCasindividualmembers.
