9、win, so he joined Jupiter And so he was not sent to Tartarus like the other Titans,ADVISOR,Because he was so wise, Jupiter asked Prometheus to be his advisor And Prometheus gave him good advice so Jupiter trusted him Jupiter trusted him so much, he asked him to make a new race of men He gave Prometh

10、eus clay and other materials like sharp teeth and warm fur,EPIMETHEUS,Prometheus set to work, but it was a large task so he asked his brother to help Epimetheus was not wise like his brother Prometheus He would have fought against Jupiter if Prometheus had not changed his mind,MAKING MEN,Together th

11、e two brothers began to work Prometheus making men out of clay Epimetheus making interesting animals,ANIMALS,Epimetheus made the bear and gave it warm fur He made the lion and gave it sharp teeth Soon he had used all the special materials Jupiter had given Prometheus,WHAT DID YOU DO?,Prometheus had

12、made many men out of clay and was ready to give them the special materials they would need to survive But Epimetheus had already used them,TEACHER,Prometheus was angry and worried for the poor humans He knew their life would be hard, so he taught them many useful things He taught them to plant crops

13、 in the fields He taught them how to use fire to stay warm and to make weapons to kill the animals Soon Men could live happily and build temples to praise the gods,ARGUMENT,But many men were unhappy that they had to make sacrifices to the gods They became greedy and wanted to keep the meat to themse

14、lves So they argued with Jupiter,JUDGE,Jupiter decided that Prometheus should judge the problem But Prometheus wanted to help the men he had created so he tricked Jupiter He killed a cow and made two piles of meat,TRICK,One pile had all the good meat and was covered with the organs Jupiter did not l

15、ike the organs The other pile was of the bones and other inedible parts But clever Prometheus put the fat on top of this pile so it looked delicious,CHOICE,Jupiter was shown the two piles and told to pick one Ever after mankind would always sacrifice this part to him and the other gods Jupiter chose

16、 the fat covered bones When he realized he had been tricked he was furious,NO MORE FIRE,As punishment, Jupiter took away fire and forbid the gods from giving fire to men So they soon were cold and unhappy and their lives became miserable Prometheus saw the men shivering and pitied them So he stole s

17、ome fire from Mt Olympus and secretly carried it to mankind,READ AND DISCUSS BIG QUESTION 1,VENUS JUPITER MARS,VULCAN,Vulcan was also a son of Jupiter and Juno He was the god of the forge His epithet was the lame god,GOOD SON,Vulcan was an obedient son and always helped his mother Juno He also worke

18、d hard to make armor and jewelry to make the other gods happy So even though he was ugly and lame, everyone liked him,VENUS,Since everyone liked him when they found out he loved Venus they wanted to help him They told him to make her fine jewelry and he did But Venus only fell in love with his fine

19、crafts, she despised the lame god,MARRIAGE,Vulcan asked his father if he could marry Venus and Jupiter thought it was a good idea So he forced Venus to marry his lame son, even though she didnt love him,CHEATER,Venus would never sleep with her husband Instead she spent her time with lovers like Adon

20、is and Mars Vulcan was humiliated and wanted revenge,PLAN,Vulcan used his skills to make some very strong chains He also made them thin so they were nearly invisible He hung these chains above his bed so that if the bed moved the chains would fall down and trap whomever was in the bed,ACTION,Vulcan

21、then told his wife he was going to be gone for a few days Venus said goodbye and waited a few minutes Then she invited Mars back to her house,WITNESSES,Meanwhile Vulcan had turned around He talked to his father and mother and all the other gods He complained about his cheating wife and asked them to

22、 witness her infidelity All the female gods refused to go, but the male gods all went,SCENE,They entered Vulcans bedroom There were Venus and Mars trapped by the chains Both of them were naked The gods laughed and took pity on the lovers and set them free They also praised Vulcan, who despite being

23、the slowest god, had managed to capture Mars, the swiftest,DIANA THETIS ACHILLES MENELAUS,AGAMEMNON,Leader of the Greek Army Brother of Menelaus Organized the departure First they made SACRIFICES to the gods,SACRIFICES,They prayed to Neptune for smooth sailing Prayed to Juno that their wives would b

24、e faithful Prayed to Apollo to help heal them if they got hurt They prayed to all the major gods and made sacrifices to them Except for Diana,DIANA,Since she was not honored like the other gods Diana was angry She ordered the eastern wind to blow The wind blew so strongly that the Greek ships were d

26、IGENIA,Iphigenia was young and beautiful and loved by her father and mother Her mother was very protective of her Agamemnon was so committed to the war that he was willing to sacrifice Iphigenia But he knew his wife would never allow it,CLYTEMNESTRA,So Agamemnon decided to trick his wife, Clytemnestra H
