師大附中外語(yǔ)校 劉雨Teaching procedures consist of the following 7 steps. Step1, warming up. (2 m)Step 2 ,reading dramatically(6 m), Step 3 ,story comprehension(5 m), Step 4, story telling(6 m), Step 5, character analysis(5 m), Step 6, role play, Step(10 m) 7 discussion (6 m)Step 8 homework. All the time specified here is just a suggestion,but not arbitrary. I should make sure the students dont overdo or underdo the activity. Step 1 Warming up In the warming up part,I will ask students some simple questions ,for example, 1.Whats this? 2. Where did the story happen? 3.Who are the main characters? 4.Why did this happen? The design intention is to attract students attention quickly . This can function as a hook or a bell ringer. Step 2 Reading dramatically In this part , the students are encouraged to read their favourite part. The design intention is to encourage them to read as a native speaker and have a feeling of achievement when they can read well and thus setting a good example for others to follow. After this ,the students will choose the best reader based on their pronunciation ,intonation and how much emotion they put into when they are reading.Step 3 Story comprehension(option 1)The students have six questions to choose from.The larger the number is, the more difficult the question will be. Its up to the students to choose.The questions are:1. Why did the prince say tomorrow would be an important day?2. Why did Chip look at the bead through his magnifying glass?3.Do you think someone could steal the crown from the tower? Why?4. What did Chip think valuable? What wasnt valuable?5. Why did Chip say Now we are in trouble?6.How many times did the magnifying glass appear in the story? Why?This step is especially designed for the less fluent students and the average students because the questions are related to the story itself. After this ,they will choose the most attentive reader.Story comprehension(option 2) In this part ,the students are encouraged to ask some profound questions , which they cant find the answers to from the text. The design intention is to encourage the top students to do some challenging. After this ,they will choose the most comprehensive reader. Step 4 Story tellingOption 1, I will encourage students to tell me what happened in different places with the help of the words given below. The design intention is to encourage them to sum up the story based on the story map.After this ,they will choose the best story teller.Step 5, character analysisIn this step, students are asked to to analyze the main characters here.They should describe them with adj. and support their ideas based on the descriptions from the story. The design intention is to develop their logical thinking as well as to help them to think creatively and critically ,meanwhile I should encourage them to argue deductively. After this ,they are asked to choose the best thinker.Step 6 Role playIn this part ,students will choose whoever they want to be and act out the story. The design intention is to make them brave and creative ,which is a life-time experience and does a lot of good for their future development. At the same time, the students will notice the some traditional costume of the western culture.Step 7 DiscussionThe students will discuss the following questions:1.Who do you think has stolen the crown? Why? Give your reasons. 2.Do you think Biff and Chip would be taken into prison? 3.What would happen to them? 4.If you were Biff or Chip, what would you do to get out of trouble?They even can have a debate if time permits.The design intention is to help them to think critically and be more imaginative . Step 8 HomeworkAgain,the students are free to choose the following homework.The less fluent students will just read after the story dramatically.The average students may write a summary of the whole story.The top students are encouraged to write a sequel(續(xù)集) to the story.The design intention is to encourage everyone to do something within their capability.Blackboard design.It consists of three parts.In the left column, its the plot analysis. It has a story map for the students to follow as clues. In the middle column, it is the character analysis. In the right column,it is the evaluation of the class. The students choose the best reader, the most comprehensive
