文檔簡介

10 words and phrases that shouldnt be on your rsum簡歷上切忌的十個詞After all, youve got a finite amount of space in which to describe yourself and your professional capabilities. And you dont have much time, either.畢竟是你要在有限的時間內(nèi)用有限的字數(shù)盡可能充分地完成對自己專業(yè)能力的描述。Yet creating a comprehensive and concise rsum is how youll increase your chances of landing a job interview. Although you have a sizable list of information you want to includesuch as experience, skills, and educationthere are also several words and phrases you should eliminate from your rsum.不可否認,一份詳實而簡明的簡歷是每個求職者贏得面試機會的關(guān)鍵所在。求職者在制作簡歷的時候,也就難免有恨不得把自己所有的經(jīng)驗,技能和教育背景一吐為快的沖動但是與此同時也要注意簡歷制作中的一些禁忌。Lauren Taylor, human resources generalist with Burns & McDonnell, has reviewed countless rsums. She used that experience to create a list of 10 words and phrases to keep off of your rsum. If you see any of these on your document, steer clear.Lauren Taylor是Burns &Macdonnel是一名人事總監(jiān),見過的簡歷不計其數(shù)。基于這樣的經(jīng)驗, Lauren Taylor列舉了在簡歷制作中必須避免的十個詞。也就是說在制作簡歷的時候要避免任何這些詞匯的蛛絲馬跡。References available upon request. This phrase takes up valuable real estate that can be used to add more details about your accomplishments and experience. Instead, leave it off. If a company is interested in making you an offer, they will ask you for references (and assume you have them).據(jù)記載。用到這個詞就意味著自己之前供職的單位是某個大房地產(chǎn)公司,并且公司對你在單位里的驕人業(yè)績都有詳實的記錄。千萬別這么干。因為一旦用人單位有意給你提供機會,他們也就有意知道你的“記載”從何而來(并且更愿意從你而來)。Dynamic/energetic/motivated/enthusiastic. Sure, all of these are great words to describe your personality, but leave them off of your rsum. Wait until you land the interview. Then let the company decide if you possess those traits. (After all, anyone can say theyre energetic.) If these words arent relevant to your skills and accomplishments, they dont need to be on your rsum.活力/精力/動力/樂觀精神。這些當(dāng)然都是能很好地傳達自己的個性的詞匯,但是一定不能出現(xiàn)在自己的簡歷中。這些特性要等到面試的時候表現(xiàn)出來才好(畢竟誰都能說自己精力充沛)。并且如果這些特質(zhì)與工作能力和業(yè)績無關(guān),就更沒有寫在簡歷中的必要。Microsoft Office. Most employers will assume (or even expect) you to be familiar with basic computer programs. Dont use valuable space on this sort of information. Instead, focus on specialty skills and programs that will help you stand out from the crowd.Office軟件。不用說,大部分用人單位都覺得(或者要求)自己的雇員熟悉基本的辦公軟件的。簡歷空間有限,這些類似廢話的東西完全可以不提。需要注意的是,要把自己擅長的技能或某一款軟件具體寫清楚,這樣才有利于自己脫穎而出。Objective. This is a tricky one. If you have a good objective, leave it on. If you dont, take it off. Since the career objective is at the top of your rsum, it needs to make a big splash. If you have a specific objective to land a job in a specific industry using your specific skillset for the specific company, by all means include the information. If, on the other hand, youre “l(fā)ooking to gain a challenging opportunity in which you can use your talents to help the company grow” skip it and use the space for more valuable information. Experienced. Although you may have many years working in a certain field, dont sell yourself short by using a word as vague and general as “experienced.” Get specific. Make a note of how long youve worked in a certain industry, how many clients youve had, what your sales were, and how much you increased profitability. Employers want to see results, not fluff.經(jīng)驗豐富。即便自己在某一領(lǐng)域有多年的從業(yè)經(jīng)歷,也不要貼著流行而大眾的“經(jīng)驗豐富”的標(biāo)簽把自己賣了。面對新的工作環(huán)境,要有新的準備才好,要針對自己的從業(yè)時間,客戶數(shù)量,市場反饋以及創(chuàng)造的利潤做一個全面的總結(jié)。用人單位看重的是結(jié)果,不是華而不實的東西。Team player/people person/client friendly. These words are frequently overused, and while they describe skill sets almost every employer looks for, theyre also skills almost every applicant says he or she possesses on paper. Rather than put them in print, show how you embody those qualities. What groups/organizations are you involved in? Have you led a committee? What has your team accomplished together? If youre someone who gravitates toward groups of people, then including this type of information will illustrate that youre a team player. Photos. We knowtechnically, this isnt a word. But unless youre applying for a job in which your face is an important part of the application process (for example, TV, acting, modeling, etc.) leave it off. It wont help you land the position, and in some cases, employers are forced to ignore your because it contains information that can be used as discriminatorythat is age, sex, ethnicitylater in the process.照片。據(jù)大家所知,這應(yīng)該不是個詞。但是同樣要提醒的是,除非自己要找的工作與長相有很大的關(guān)系(如電視臺、表演、模特等),否則最好不要附照片。這么做不僅沒有任何好處,有時候還會因為自己不經(jīng)意間透露的信息(如年齡,性別,種族)而失去繼續(xù)爭取工作的機會。High School. Once you reach your sophomore year in college, delete all of your high school info on your rsum (school, GPA, activities, summer job, etc.). The only information you may want to consider including is an exceptional ACT or SAT score, and this is more relevant for new graduates.高校學(xué)習(xí)經(jīng)歷。從大學(xué)二年級開始,簡歷中關(guān)于自己大學(xué)期間的信息就不能再出現(xiàn)了(如學(xué)校名稱, GPA,校內(nèi)社團活動,兼職等)。如果一定要寫,只有ACT和SAT的成績可以寫進來,并且只有畢業(yè)生寫這些才管用。Contact info. Keep it simple when including your contact info. Provide one phone number, one email address, and one street address.聯(lián)系方式。簡歷中的聯(lián)系方式越簡單越好。一個電話號,一個郵箱號再加上一個門牌號就足夠了。Hobbies/interests. Leave them off! Your rsum is a professional, one-page guide to help an employer learn about your accomplishments. This document doesnt need to include your love of hiking, scuba diving, or swing dancing. Employers will often look at a hobby section as filler. If you want to use your hobbies as a way to find common ground, list them on your LinkedIn profile, or find a good way to bring them up in your interview. There you have it: A handy cheat sheet you can reference each time you write or update your rsum.
