1、Unit 3 The Million Pound Bank NotePeriod 5 Using language: Listening, writing and speaking整體設(shè)計(jì)教材分析This is the fifth teaching period of this unit. As usual, the teacher will first get students to review what they lear ned in the last period, and the n lead in the new less on.In this period we will ma

2、inly deal with the follo wing parts: Listening, writing and acting in Using Ian guage on Page 23, Talk ing and Liste ning in Workbook on Page 55.The purpose of the part Listening, writing and acting is to encourage independent thought and speculati on.1. Let the students listen to Act I , Scene 5. M

3、ake sure students go through the exercises before they listen to the tape. This is to sharpen their attention and listen for the answers. This will also help them get the gist of the liste ning text. The teach ing procedures may be as follows: First,let stude nts go through the exercises and guess t

4、he liste ning text may be about. Play the tape for stude nts to liste n and decide whether their guess ing is right. Second, ask them to liste n aga in for them to find the answers to the questions in Exercise 2. Third, let them listen a third time to check their an swers. While they are liste ning,

5、 the teacher should pause and repeat the key sentences to help students understand. When checking the answers, explain some difficult listening points if n ecessary .In the end, show them the liste ning text and read it aloud to the tape.2. Have students in pairs imagine what may happen to Henry in

6、the next month as he tries to use the bank note without gett ing into trouble and the n make a new sce ne for the play and perform it to the class. The teacher should give them eno ugh en courageme nt and n ecessary help. Advise them to follow the steps: 1)Make a list of the characters. 2)Make an ou

7、tline of the events and the actions of the scene. 3)Make a note of how the characters eelings change. 4)Decide on the stage direct ions which tell the actors what to do or how to say someth ing. 5)Th ink up an excit ing ending.The part Talk ing is an opport unity for stude nts to con tribute to the

8、writ ing of the play. They are asked in pains to make their dialogue and this will take the place of Act n , Scene 1. Students can all act their dialogues to the class and one can be chose n as the most appropriate for the play. Listening on Page 55 is a continuation of the sample talking above. It

9、completes the scene and continues to develop the story. Before letting students listen to the text, ask them to discuss in pairs what they think will happe n whe n the tailor sees the bank no te.We should try our best to en courage stude nts. Don always correct the mistakes they have made while they
