5、ing out to see a movie or taking a walk in a park, people of all ages prefer to turn on the television and stay at home. more and more families have tape recorders, cd players, vcrs and vcds to add to the variety of leisure activities in the home. in some countries, young people spend hours sitting

6、in front of their computers, surfing on the internet or playing computer games.despite the rise in home entertainment, there are still many people who enjoy spending some of their leisure time attending sports events or participating in competitive sports or other physical activities such as dancing

7、 and tai chi (shadow boxing). exercise not only contributes to good health but also takes the mind away from worries and troubles.concerts, plays and other performances constitute another source of entertainment outsidethe home. while some people prefer to be entertained, others prefer to be the ent

17、y eyes.煙熏得我的眼睛怪難受的。 b) wool irritates my skin.羊毛刺激我的皮膚。3) 使疼痛e.g. insect bites irritate your skin. 蟲子叮疼了你的皮膚。5. persist vi. (in) 堅持不懈,執(zhí)意1) 持續(xù);存留e.g. on the top of very high mountains snow persists throughout the. year 高 山 頂 上積雪終年不化。2) (in) 堅持 (不懈 ),執(zhí)意注意 persist 和 insist 都有 “堅持 ”的意思, persist 與 in 連用,

18、表示 “堅持從事某行動” ,可以表示不顧挫折困難地堅持, 也被用來表示不聽開導或勸告而頑固地堅持已見, 如:to persist in doing things in one; insisown wayl用,有 堅持某個意見 “、堅持要求 ”、 “一定要 ”的含義, 從句中要用虛擬語氣, 如: he insisted on a reply from the manager. / he insisted that the manager give him a reply.persistence n. 堅持,固執(zhí)6. reasonable a. 合理的 注意 reasonable, rationa

19、l 都指 “根據(jù)理性的 ” , reasonable 形容人或其行為、言詞、計劃或程序,著重在決定和選擇時表現(xiàn)出精明的判斷以及由理智支配,如: he took a reasonable view of dispute and offered a solution that was fair, sensible and practical. ; rational 著重具有合乎邏輯的思考能力,和能作出指導言行的結論的能力,如: his approach to the problem is rational.7. sparkle v.1) 閃閃發(fā)光;閃爍;閃耀e.g. dewdrops sparkl
