But Valentine would keep on performing marriage ceremonies secretly. He was caught by the soldiers at a wedding, and was thrown

9、 into prison and beheaded. Valentine fell in love with the daughter of his jailer when he was in prison. Before he was taken to his death on February 14, 269 A.D., he signed a farewell message to her, “Love from your Valentine.” That note started the custom of exchanging love messages on Valentines
