1、Good morning, ladies and gentlemen, honorable judges. My name is XXX. Itis my great honor to be here to share my lesson with you. This chance is veryprecious for me and I will cherish it. The lecture I choose to illustrate is takenfrom reading section of unit two, Language, Module three of Advance w

2、ithEnglish. My teaching plan includes the following four parts. Theyare:analysis of teaching material, teaching methods, teaching procedureandfeedback after-class. And while presenting these parts, I will dotheblackboard design properly. Now I will move on to the first part.Part1, Analysis of teachi

3、ng material1) Status and functionThis unit introduces and develops the theme of language. The reading sectiondeals with a typical history article which is about the history of differentlanguage levels. It mainly talks about how English has developed and why ithas some strange rules. The unit provide

4、s a chance for students to gain someknowledge about English and its history. It is the first time to refer to historyarticle in the reading books. Therefore, students should learn how to read ahistory article. The reading strategy of this unit teaches students the writingfeatures in a typical histor

5、y article and effective ways to read those articles.After studying this passage, we will be clear about the development of Englishand why languages are changing all the time.2) Analysis of the knowledge level and study characteristics of high schoolstudentsStudents in high school have studied Englis

6、h for several years. They have thebasic abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing in English, but still lack effective techniques in their study. Most of them hate remembering vocabulary and put emphasis on writing and grammar. They have big problems in speaking and listening. Most stude

7、nts lack interests in studyingEnglish and they study just for exams. Their pronunciation is not accurate due to few spoken practice. Analysis of the knowledge level and study characteristics of high school students helps improve the teaching and studying methods.3) Teaching aimsBased on the analysis

8、 of the teaching material, I choose the following pointsas the teaching aims.(i ) Knowiedge aims To help students grasp the usages of new words, phrases and importantsentence structures. To improve students'understanding of Engiish ianguage and its changesover a iong period of time.(ii) Ability

9、aims To improve students iistening and speaking abiiity by reading andpracticing the passage and retelling the passage in their own words afterstudying this article. To strengthen students'reading comprehension skills like skimming andscanning and apply these skills to help students get useful i

10、nformation ofthe passage.(iii) Moral aimsGet the students feel the amazing changes of a language and arouse their interests in the history of English and English itself.(4) Teaching focus (i ) Teaching important points Grasp the usages of the new words, phrases, important sentence structuresand gram

11、mar. Get useful information by skimming and scanning.(ii ) Teaching difficult points Let the students learn how to improve their reading abilities. How to get the main idea of the text quickly and correctly. Retell the text in their own words after learning the whole passage.Part2 Analysis of the le

12、arning methods, teaching methods and teaching aids.(i ) I will do my best to carry out the following theories: make the students the real master in class while the teacher myself act as a guide. Give the students chances to develop their ability of communication and cooperation and to receive moral

13、education while learning English.(i ) In order to achieve my goals, I will adopt the following methods: Communicative teaching method with question-and-answer activity. Audio-visual teaching method with watch-and-listen activity. Task-based teaching method. Free discussion in pairs or in groups.(i )

14、 Teaching aids: a projector, a tape recorder, multimedia and the blackboard.Part3 Teaching procedureStep1 Lead-inFirst, I will use the PPT to show the students an old English poem “A Red RedRose”written by Robert Burns and ask the students to find out the words that we are not using nowadays and the

15、n translate the main idea of the poem in another way by using different words and phrases. By doing this, the students will be eager to learn the passage that we are going to talk about. Then review some information that students have learnt in “welcome to this unit ”part and tell them that English

16、is the most popular and widely used language in the world and lead them into the reading part.Step2 Presentation (i ) Fast readingAsk the students to read the passage as quickly as possible and make a time chart to list important information such as, time, places and events in the article and then c

17、onclude the main idea of each paragraph. I will remind the students to only focus on identifying the information needed in the following exercises. Fast reading helps students gain the structure of this article quickly.(ii ) Intensive readingAsk the students to read the passage again and try to find

18、 some detailed information related to some of the questions below the text. Intensive reading serves to improve students ability of locating the specific information that we need for the following exercises. In the meanwhile, I will explain the grammar, sentence structures and the usages of some new

19、 words and expressions in this passage, helping them deal with some difficult and long sentences.Step3 Practice (i ) Ask the students to listen to the whole passage carefully and pay attention to the pronunciation and intonation. This can deepen their understanding of this text and also practise the

20、ir listening ability. After listening practice, let the students read the passage loudly and this gives them the opportunity to train their speaking ability.(ii ) Let the students close their books and recall what we have learnt in this passage and ask them make some sentences by using the newly lea

21、rnt words, phrases and sentence structures. List on the blackboard the main idea of each paragraph that students have found out in fast reading section and ask some students to retell the passage in their own words with the help of the information on the blackboard.Step4 DiscussionThe students will

22、be divided into several groups and I will give the them the topic: Can Chinese become the most popular and widely used international language someday? They will be given a short time for preparation and then have a free discussion about this topic, then I will encourage each group to name out their ideas. Free discussion will improve t
