1、 Title: Advertisements.Analysis of teaching material:This section is reading,the first part of unit 1,which is no doubt the highlight of this unit.This passage includes three sub-titles.They are What is an advertisement?Does an advertisement tell people the complete truth?andPublic service advertise
2、ments.These three sub-titles make the structure of the text clearer and the contents of the text easier for the students to grab.The passage mainly talks about the definition and the types of advertisements,the cheating phenomenal in some advertisements and the detailed information about public serv
3、ice advertisements.By learning this passage,the students can not only learn some new words and expressions related to advertisements but also can get more knowledge about advertisements and develop a correct attitude toward advertisements.Furthermore,nowadays our life is filled with advertisements.S
4、o this text is very practical and must appeal to the students interests. Teaching Objectives: Knowledge Objectives: 1.Students can understand the useful words ,phrases and sentence patterns related to the topic. 2.Students can get the common knowledge about advertisements ,such as definition and typ
5、es of the advertisements,how to form a critical attitude to ads and so on. Skills Objectives: 1.Students can learn to skim for general idea and to scan for specific information. 2.Students can learn to infer implied meanings and the writers intention; 3.Students can learn to express personal opinion
6、s about advertisements. 4.Students can learn to comment on an advertising slogan by the expressions learned in the passage. Affect Objectives: 1.Students should be alert about some false advertisements and not be cheated easily. 2.Students should act on the appeal of public service advertisements an
7、d make their due contributions to the society. 3.Students interests in English learning is greatly increased by exposing then to the practical English. .Key points and difficult points: 1.Key points:Help students understand the new words, phrases and sentence patterns which can enrich students vocab
8、ulary and increase their English ability.Enable students to grab some expressions related to advertisements.Help students get the general idea of the text.2. Which advertisements make you want to buy a product or service?Why?2. Which advertisements make you think about problems in society or
11、 about people who need help?Why?3.Do you believe that advertisements tell the complete truth?Why or Why not?Teachers note:The purposes of lead-in are:*The students are expected to share their opinions by group discussions which creates an active learning atmosphere; *linking the students prior knowl

Teachers note:Students are expected to get the general ideas about the passage.The answer to the question can be found in the three main parts of the passage.2.Read the three subtitles and their following contents and let the students finish
