(usually short) journey, especially. for pleasure (通常指短途的)旅行,行走, (尤其指娛樂性的)與 trip 搭配的主要動詞和介詞有:be (go) on / make / take a trip toe.g. a trip to the seaside 海濱之行a honeymoon trip to Paris 前往巴黎的蜜月之旅go on a trip 外出旅行a day tr

3、ip to the country去鄉(xiāng)村遠足一天He is on a business trip.他出差在外。My father will make a trip to New York next week.我父親下星期要到紐約去。除 trip 可以表示“旅行”之外,還有幾個可以表示“旅行”的詞,如:travel, travels, tour, journey, voyage 等。它們之間的差別是什么呢?travel 指“旅行“,一般指長途旅行或國外旅行,如:He came home after years of foreign travel.他在國外旅行了幾年后又回到了家里。travels

4、則指短暫的游歷或瀏覽。如:Did you go to Guilin during your travels? 你旅游時到過桂林嗎?trip 指短途的旅行。如:I went on a trip to Tianjin.我去了趟天津。tour 則有參觀訪問,游歷各地的意思。如:Make a tour of inspection 去考察journey 一般指長期的陸地旅行,如:I make a journey to Shanghai on business.我因公旅行上海。voyage 指水上或空中的旅行。如:用心 愛心 專心go on a voyage 航海去make a voyage to Aus

5、tralia 航行到澳大利亞去2. settle down That afternoon in the train the cousins settled down in their seats.那天下午,這對表姐妹在火車上落了座。settle down 1)安定,安居e.g. He s ettled down in his hometown.他在故鄉(xiāng)安頓下來。2)平靜下來,安下心來e.g. The teacher tried to settle the students down.那位老師努力使學(xué)生安靜下來。Wait until the excitement has settled down

11、all one than the large one.我寧可要那個小的,而不愿要那個大的。I would rather have died than bowed the neck to the enemy.我寧可死而不愿向敵人低頭。I would rather you came tomorrow than today.我倒是希望你明天來而不是今天。5. notuntilThey were not leaving for Montreal until later 晚些時候,他們才會去蒙特利爾Notuntil 表示“直到才”常與表示瞬間的動詞連用。又如:“We dont leave until t

12、his evening,” said Liu Qian.劉倩說:“我們要到晚上才離開。 ”The noise of the street didnt stop until midnight.街上的噪音一直到午夜才停止。until 后面也可以接從句。如:The children wont come back until it is dark.孩子們不到天黑不回家。Notuntil 還可以用于強調(diào)句中,如:It was not until he returned that his son went to bed.直到他回來,他兒子才去睡覺。名詞性從句課文中有這樣的一句話:The girls tol

13、d him they were on a train trip across Canada and that they had only one day in Montreal.姑娘們告訴他,她們乘火車旅游,要橫穿加拿大,在蒙特利爾只呆一天。在這句話中,一個動詞后帶了兩個賓語從句,一個是 they were on a train trip across Canada, 另一個是 that they had only one day in Montreal.用心 愛心 專心注意,一個動詞若帶兩個賓語從句,第一個賓語從句的引導(dǎo)詞 that 可以省略。但是第二個引導(dǎo)詞 that 一般不能省略。又如:

14、I understand not only that you have studied Chinese but also that you have written Chinese poetry.我知道,你不僅學(xué)了中文,而且還寫中文詩。我們在前面的學(xué)習(xí)中曾經(jīng)講到,that 在賓語從句中可以省略,但在主語從句,表語從句中是不能省略的。如:Its certain that he will succeed.他一定會成功的。The problem is that I am short of money.Do you think (that )it will rain tomorrow?你認為明天會下雨

15、嗎?名詞性從句除上面我們所講的三個句型外,還有一種叫做同位語從句。如課文中的句子:The idea that they would cross the whole continent was exciting.要橫穿整個北美大陸的想法很是令人興奮。The idea that you can cross Canada in less than five days is just wrong.別指望能在不到五天的時間里穿越加拿大。The fact that ocean ships can go there surprises many people.巨大的海輪可以開到這里來使許多人感到吃驚。從以上

16、的句子我們可以看出,同位語從句主要是用來對前面的名詞進行解釋或說明的。通常在以下名詞的后面會出現(xiàn)同位語從句,如:fact, idea, news, question, answer, problem, 等。與其他名詞性從句一樣,同位語從句的連接詞也有三種,即:陳述句用 that 連接,但 that 不能省略;一般疑問句用 whether 連接,但不能用 if 連接。特殊疑問句用特殊疑問詞連接。并且,所有的同位語從句都應(yīng)是陳述句式。我們來看下面的例子:I insisted upon an answer to my question whether he was coming or not.我堅持

17、要求他回答我的問題:他來還是不來。Next comes the question what you want to put in the box?其次就是這個問題,你要在盒子里放什么?It is difficult to answer your question how black holes came into being.黑洞是怎樣形成的,這個問題很難回答。有時候,我們還會把同位語從句與定語從句混淆。這里有必要區(qū)分一下。同位語從句與定語從句的區(qū)別:1)定語從句是對先行詞起修飾、限制的作用,而同位語從句具體說明它前面的名詞的內(nèi)容。如:The news that you heard is no

18、t true.你聽到的消息不真實。 (定語從句)The news that our team has won is true.我們隊獲勝的消息是真的。 (同位語從句)2)定語從句中的 that 在定語從句中擔(dān)任句子的成分,通常是主語或賓語,是關(guān)系代詞。而同位語從句中的 that 不擔(dān)任句子成分,是從屬連詞。如:用心 愛心 專心The fact that we talked about is very important. 我們所談?wù)摰氖聦嵎浅V匾?。(定語從句)The fact that we succeeded pleased everybody.我們成功了,這一事實讓大家很高興。 (同位語從
