It is very poor now, but I make up my mind to work hard to make it wealthy and attractive.3. Activity Three1)Offer three pairs of cities for students to choose from a

11、nd then divide them into four groups according to their choices. The three pairs of cities can be as follows: Beijing & Shanghai; London & Barcelona; Florence & New York. You may ask them to discuss the following aspects of the cities: population, industry, climate, location, transport, tourism in g

Think of two regions, cities, towns or villages you know well. One of them could be your hometown.2. Write notes abou

15、t some of these features:population, climate, industry, location, tourism, transport.3. Write sentences using your notes.E. g. Harbin is a cold, industrial centre in the north. It has over three million inhabitants.Guangzhou is a hot, industrial port in the south. It has over four million inhabitant

16、s.4. Rewrite the sentences and compare the two places. Use the link words in Grammar, and the ways of making comparisons in Function.5. Organize your sentences into paragraphs. Each paragraph should discuss one particular feature. You may need to rewrite some of your sentences.6. Write a sentence to

17、 start your description about the two places saying what you know about them or whats special about them.7. Write a sentence to finish your description and give your opinion about the two places. Harbin and Guangzhou are very different cities, but I like them both very much.2. Give students 15 minut

18、es and have them finish the composition individually.3. When they have finished, ask them to exchange their writing with a partner for peer-checking of all aspects of the writing: structure, language, content. . .4. If you wish to have some students read their writing out to the class, or put up the

19、 writing on the walls and ask students to circulate and read other students writing. Step 4 Summary and HomeworkIn this period we first learned some new words in describing places and then you practiced using the words to describe places. Finally we did some writing. Through the writing section stud
