The differences betweenbecause, since, as and for.難點(diǎn) because , since , as , for,辨析because, as, for, since這幾個(gè)詞都是表示原因的連詞,語(yǔ)氣由強(qiáng)至弱 依次為:becausesinceasfor;其中because, since, as均為從屬連詞,引導(dǎo)原因狀語(yǔ)從句;而for是并列連詞,引導(dǎo)并列句。1. because表示直接原因, 它所指的原因通
15、常是聽話人所不知道的, 其語(yǔ) 氣最強(qiáng)。常用來(lái)回答why的提問,一般放于主句之后,也可以單獨(dú)存在。例如:She didnt go to work today because she is ill.她今天沒有去上班,因?yàn)樗×?。此外,在?qiáng)調(diào)句型中,只能用becauseo例如:It was because I missed the early bus that I was late for school.我上學(xué)遲到是因?yàn)槲覜]有趕上早班汽車。2. since側(cè)重主句,從句表示顯然的或已為人所知的理由,常譯為因?yàn)椤⒓热?,語(yǔ)氣比because稍弱,通常置于句首,表示一種含有勉強(qiáng)語(yǔ)氣的原因。 例如:Sinc
16、e he asks you, youll tell him why.么吧。吧!3. as是常用詞,它表示的原因是雙方已知的事實(shí)或顯而易見的原因,或 者理由不是很重要,含義與since相同,但語(yǔ)氣更弱,沒有since正式,常譯為由于,鑒于。從句說(shuō)明原因,主句說(shuō)明結(jié)果,主從并重。例如:We all like her as she is kind.我們都喜歡她,因?yàn)樗屏?。As I was not feeling well, I was absent from school.因?yàn)槲腋杏X不舒服,所以沒去上課。4. for用作連詞時(shí),與because相似,但它所表示的原因往往提供上文未 交待過(guò)的而又是比
17、較明顯的情況。for不表示直接原因, 表明附加或推斷的理由, 它所引導(dǎo)的分句只能放在句子后部(或單獨(dú)成為一個(gè)句子),并且前后兩個(gè)分句間的邏輯關(guān)系不一定是因果關(guān)系,其間用逗號(hào)隔開,且for不可置于句首,for的 這一用法常用在書面語(yǔ)中,較正式。試比較下面兩個(gè)例句:(1)It must have rained, for the ground is wet.(下過(guò)雨的推測(cè),但地濕并不一定是下雨所致, for(2)The ground is wet because it has rained. (直接原因。)前后兩個(gè)分句間有一定的因果關(guān)系時(shí)(有時(shí)很難區(qū)分是直接原因, 還是推測(cè) 性原因),for與bec
18、ause可以互換使用。5. now that(既然)的用法:now that同since相似,語(yǔ)氣較弱,強(qiáng)調(diào) 人們已知的事實(shí)。例:Now that you are busy, let me do it for you.既然你忙,就讓我給你做吧。2.
