2、tion)ofChina-GuineaFriendshipHospitalsaid,“Chinasentaspecialairplane,flyingthousandsofmilestobringusthemostneededsupplies.Itissotouching.”ThisisjustoneepisodeofChinausingcharteredairplanestobringmuchneededsuppliesagainstEbolatoAfricancountries.InfactsinceMarch,2014,ChinahasbeendoingthesametonotonlyL

3、iberia,SierraLeoneandGuineawhereEbolaisrampant,butalsototheir10neighbouringcountriesofGhana,Mali,Togo,Benin,DRC,theRepublicofCongo,Nigeria,CotedIvoire,SenegalandGuinea-Bissau.EbolacastsadarkshadowoverWestAfrica,andthethreeWestAfricancountriesarefacingafatalthreat.Atsuchacriticaljuncture,theChinesepe

4、ople,whohaveanagonizingmemoryofSARS,feelthepainoftheAfricanpeople,immediatelyreachouttheirhands,anddotheirutmosttoprovidepragmatichelptotheirAfricanbrothers.First,multipleroundsofpragmaticassistancehavebeensenttotheebola-strickenareas.LastApril,whenEbolajustemerged,Chinaimmediatelycameupwithmaterial

5、suppliesworth4millionRMBtohelpfourWestAfricancountries.InEarlyAugust,whentheepidemicworsenedbutnotyetattractedsufficientattentionfromtheinternationalcommunity,Chinaimmediatelysentthemostneededsuppliestothethreeworst-hitcountriesbyrentedcharteredairplanesatthefastestpossiblespeed,makingitthefirstcoun

6、trytoofferanti-Ebolamaterialtothethreecountries,andalsoservingasthefirsttimeinhistoryforChinatousecharteredairplanestoassistAfrica.Afterthat,ChinadonatedanadvancedmobilelaboratoryfortestingEbolatoSierraLeoneandbuiltafixedlaboratoryandobservationcenterthere,setupa100-bedtreatmentcenterinLiberiaandsen

7、telitetroopswhoparticipatedinfightingagainsttheSARSepidemic,allofwhichbeingsomethingnewinthehistoryofChina-Africarelations.Uptillnow,ChinastotalassistanceonfightingEbolahasreached750millionRMB,covering13AfricancountriesaswellasinternationalandregionalorganizationssuchastheUnitedNations,theWorldHealt

8、hOrganizationandtheAfricanUnion.EverypennyoftheassistancehasbeenusedonAfricanfriends,standinginsharpcontrastagainsttheWesterncountrieswhich“talkmoreanddoless”.Second,ChinahasbeenstandingshouldertoshoulderwithAfricainthefightagainstEbola.Unlikesomedevelopedcountrieswhichupontheoutbreakofthedisease,wi

9、thdrewdiplomats,volunteersandbusinesses,andevenpubliclydeclaredthattheycancontributemoneybutnotpeople,China,however,choosestostaywiththelocalpeopleattheveryforefrontofthefight.DozensofChinesebusinessesandthousandsofChinesecitizensinWestAfricastayontheirjobs.TheambassadorsanddiplomatsoftheChineseemba

10、ssiesinthethreewestAfricannationshavenotlefttheirpostsforawhile.Over400Chinesepeace-keepingtroopstoLiberiacontinuetheirmissionthere.TheChinesemedicalteamstothethreecountrieshaveasusualbeenprovidingmedicalservicestothelocalpeople.Ontopofthat,Chinahassentmoreexpertsonepidemicsandmedicalstaffinformedun

11、itstothosecountries.Atpresent,over200ChineseexpertsandmedicalstaffarefightingebolaatthefrontlinetofightEbola.Another200arearrivingonNovember14th.Inthefollowingmonthsanotherroughly1000ChineseexpertsandmedicalstaffareexpectedtojointhefightinWestAfrica.Third,Chinapursuesactivecooperationwiththeinternat

12、ionalcommunity.ChinaholdsapositiveandopenattitudetowardsinternationalcooperationinfightingEbola.TheChinesemedicalstaffonthegroundmaintaingoodcommunicationwiththeirinternationalcounterpartstoshareexperienceandsupporteachother.ThePermanentMissionofChinatotheUNstaysinclosecontactwiththeUN,andtheChinese

13、embassiesintheepidemic-affectedcountrieskeepsoundcommunicationandcoordinationwiththeUNagenciesandembassiesoftheUS,UK /6andFrancethere.GoodresultshavebeenachievedintheChina-UStrilateralcooperationinLiberia.WhenthethreelargeChinesecharteredairplanesarrivedinLiberiaonOctober26thand29th,theAmericanairtr

14、oopsattheairportofferedsupportbysendinganumberofforkliftstohelpdownloadthesupplies.PresidentObamamentionedthiscaseonanumberofpublicoccasions,andspokehighlyofChinaleadingroleinhelpingAfricatofightEbola.SinceAugust,Chinahasofferedsustainedassistanceintheformoffood,ambulances,mobilelaboratoriesandtheme

15、dicalexpertsandstaffwhichChinahassentonebatchafteranother,allbeingtheverythingspeopleintheepidemic-affectedcountriesareindireneedof.Statisticsshowthattwothirdsoftheanti-EbolasuppliesGuineahasreceivedcomesfromChina.Almostallthemedicalsuppliesfromthe10Africancountriesneighbouringtheworst-strickenareac
