13、nd Norman Forester were sure the art achievements t Thoreau had made. They be ve t Thoreau devoted all his life to pursuit the truth, the kindness and the beauty with nature. But they did not focus on Thoreaus thoughts and ideas.In 1941, it was a turning po for the study of Thoreau. F.O Matthiessen,

14、 a Harvard University scholar, comes out American Renaissance: Art and Expres in the Age of Emerson and Whitman. In his work, Matthiessancereted Walden as a whole, which wa pported in detail by American New Criticism. And it made Thoreaue one of the classic writers in American literary history. And
