Thankfully, a teacher named Aimee Scott explained it using a common thing Band-Aid.Aimee is a third-grade teacher from Utah, USA. She has become a hit online as a video of h

2、er Band-Aid lesson went viral. The lesson drew inspiration from her meetings with several parents at the start of the school year. These parents were worried that their children would be laughed at for needing something extra or different. For example, some students need extra snacks because of heal

3、th problems, some students need something to help them concentrate and some students need extra time on tests .In order to help both the parents and students, Aimee gave a Band-Aid lesson on the first day of school. She asked her students who once scraped their elbows. Several students raised their

4、hands. She let one kid tell his story of how his elbow got hurt and then put a Band-Aid on his elbow. Next, she asked who once hit their heads. She called on one student to tell his story and then put a Band-Aid on . his elbow. Repeat for a scraped knee.By this time, the kids were confused. Aimee st

5、opped the lesson and said, l gave everyone the same thing in the same way, yet it wasnt helpful for all of them. She continued to explain, “Being fair does not mean everyone gets the same thing. It means that everyone gets what they need/Thanks to this lesson, Aimees students better understand their

6、 classmates who have special needs. And they will never forget the lesson about fairness.Why Is 1.5 So Important?As a number, 1.5 seems not so important. But it matters a lot when it comes to global average temperature.In 2015, leaders of 195 countries and the European Union came to an agreement in

7、Paris. They promised to try to keep the increase in global average temperature well below 2 compared to pre-industrial levels, and better below 1.5.We are about 1.2 above pre-industrial levels now. It seems not a great increase. But such an increase in global average temperature has caused great cha

8、nges on Earth. For example, there was a heatwave in the Pacific Northwest in 2021. It led to lots of serious environmental problems and caused many deaths. Such heatwaves are now happening five times more often than they did historically.If the global average temperature keeps rising, what will happ

9、en? At 2, similar heatwaves would happen 14 times more often. Do you remember the Black Summer fires in Australia from 2019 to 2020? It would happen four times as often. Hitting 2 would also lead to the loss of ice in polar regions, causing a rise in sea level. As a result, many coastal cities would

10、 be flooded.How about limiting the rise below 1.5 C? A report shows it would mean fewer heatwaves, fewer deaths and illnesses from heat. At the same time, sea level would rise less. So, 1.5 is a very important goal.We face a clear choice for our future: Either we stop global warming, or it stops us.
