knowhowtousethelanguagepointsinsimilarsituationsbycompletingsentences,matching,makingdialogues,discussingandetc.;

beabletoskimthetextforoverallinformationandscanfordetailstohaveabetterunderstandingofthetext;

thinkfurtheraboutbeingvolunteersanddeveloptheawarenessofhelpingothers.

Purpose:Thestudents’interestisarousedbytheriddleandthefreetalkoneyes.

Step2Furtherunderstandingandlanguagepoints

Theteacherisgoingtoshowapicture,fromwhich“blind”and“blindness”willbelisted.Theteacherwillaskhowtoform“blindness”,andencouragethestudentstothinkofmoreexamples.

Theteacherwillguidethestudentstoparaphraseasentence,inwhich“treat”and“cure”areused.Thestudentsaregoingtoguesstheirdifferencefromtheexamples,learntheirphrasesandfinishanexercise.

ThreesentencesaboutDrMa,inwhich“proud”isused,willbeshowntothestudents.Theyneedtosummarizethreephrasesof“proud”.

ThestudentsaregoingtodiscusswhatproblemstheORBISvolunteersmayhavewhenworkinginpoorareasforaperiodoftime.Sometipsandexpressionswillbegiven.

Purpose:ThisstepencouragesthestudentsthinkfurtheraboutpossibleproblemswhichtheORBISvolunteershaveandvoicetheirideasfreely.Theteamworkisalsoimprovedthroughthegroupdiscussion.

Step4:Furtherreading:benefitsofworkinginORBIS

Basedontheabovediscussion,itwillbeconcludedthatORBISvolunteersfacemanyproblemsbutstilllovewhattheyaredoinginORBIS.ThesecondideawillbefurthersupportedbyaninterviewwithCelia,acommunicationsmanagerinORBIS.
