1.Students
often
gather
together
in
small,closed
groups.gather意為“集合(人、物),使聚集,召集”,常與together,up連用。
2.Ifyouarenotpartofagroup,itcanbedifficultforyoutobeaccepted.◆本句中的it為形式主語,difficult是表語;for
you
to
be
accepted是不定式復合結構作真正的主語,其中的to
be
accepted為不定式的被動形式,表示“被接受”。◆can
be意為“可能是”,是“情態(tài)動詞can+be”結構,表示對人或事物可能性的推斷。其否定形式為can’t
be,意為“不可能是”,表示否定的推測?!就卣埂縨ust
be意為“一定是”,表示肯定的推測。3.Beforehearrived,heknewtherewouldbemanydifficulties.本句中的Beforehearrived是時間狀語從句,后面的主句中,he是主語,therewouldbemanydifficulties是賓語從句,主句是一般過去時,賓語從句用的是過去將來時。過去將來時表示從過去某一時刻來看將來要發(fā)生的動作或所處的狀態(tài),它多用于主句謂語動詞為過去時的賓語從句中。
