重大科技事件的電視直播報道研究的中期報告【Abstract】Thismid-termreportpresentsthepreliminaryfindingsofaresearchprojectontelevisedlivecoverageofmajortechnologicalevents.Drawingonarangeoftheoreticalperspectives,ourstudyaimstounderstandthewaysinwhichTVbroadcastersframeandpresenttheseeventstoaudiences,andtheimpactthesepresentationshaveonpublicperceptionofscienceandtechnology.Inthefirstphaseofourresearch,weconductedacontentanalysisoflivebroadcastsofthreemajortechnologicalevents,focusingonarangeofvariablessuchassourcesofinformation,useofgraphicsandvisuals,andthelanguageusedtodescribetechnicalconcepts.Ourinitialanalysissuggeststhattherearesignificantvariationsinthewaystheseeventsarecoveredbydifferentbroadcasters,andthatthereareclearpatternsintheframingoftheseeventsthathaveimplicationsforthepublicunderstandingofscienceandtechnology.【Introduction】Thegrowingimportanceofscienceandtechnologyincontemporarysocietieshasledtoanincreasingemphasisonthecoverageofmajortechnologicaleventsinthemedia.Theseevents,whichrangefromproductlaunchestotechnologicaldisasters,aresignificantnotonlyfortheirpracticalimplicationsbutalsoforthewaysinwhichtheyshapepublicunderstandingofscienceandtechnology.Televisionnewsinparticularplaysacrucialroleinpresentingtheseevents,givenitswidereachanditsabilitytoconveycomplexinformationtoabroadaudience.Thisresearchprojectaimstoundertakeasystematicanalysisoftelevisedlivecoverageofmajortechnologicalevents,withtheobjectiveofgaininginsightsintohowtheseeventsareframedandpresentedtoaudiences,andtheimpactthesepresentationshaveonpublicperceptionsofscienceandtechnology.Drawingoninterdisciplinaryframeworksfrommediastudies,sciencecommunication,andsociology,ourstudyseekstodevelopanuancedunderstandingofthewaysinwhichTVbroadcastersconstructnarrativesaroundtheseevents,therhetoricalstrategiestheyemploytomaketechnicalconceptsaccessibletoaudiences,andtheimpactofthesepresentationsonpublicattitudestowardsscienceandtechnology.Inthefirstphaseofourresearch,weconductedacontentanalysisoflivebroadcastsofthreemajortechnologicaleventsfromdifferentfields,namelythelaunchofanewsmartphone,thedemonstrationofaprototypeflyingcar,andamajorcyberattack.Weselectedtheseeventsbasedontheirsalienceandmediacoverage,aswellastheirpotentialtoshowcasedifferentaspectsoftechnologicalinnovation.WecollecteddatafromthelivebroadcastsofmajorTVnetworksindifferentcountries,includingbothpublicservicebroadcastersandcommercialnetworks.【Methods】Ourcontentanalysisfocusedonarangeofvariablesthatarerelevanttounderstandinghowtheseeventsarepresentedtoaudiences.Theseincludedthesourcesofinformationusedinthebroadcasts,theuseofgraphicsandvisualstoexplaintechnicalconcepts,thelanguageusedtodescribetechnicalfeatures,andtheframingoftheeventsinrelationtobroadersocietalimplications.Wedevelopedacodingframeworkthatallowedustoidentifyandcategorizethesevariablesinasystematicandreproduciblemanner.Ourcodingframeworkdrewonestablishedframeworksfrommediastudies,sciencecommunication,andsociology,aswellasourowninsightsfrompreliminaryliteraturereviewandpilotstudies.Oursampleconsistedofthreelivebroadcastsofmajortechnologicaleventsfromdifferentfields.Weselectedtheseeventsbasedontheirrelevanceandmediacoverage,aswellastheirpotentialtoshowcasedifferentaspectsoftechnologicalinnovation.Theeventsweanalyzedwerethelaunchofanewsmartphone,thedemonstrationofaprototypeflyingcar,andamajorcyberattack.WeanalyzedthebroadcastsofmajorTVnetworksfromdifferentcountries,includingbothpublicservicebroadcastersandcommercialnetworks.Weselectedthesenetworksbasedontheirreachandreputation,aswellastheirpotentialtoshowcasedifferentapproachestocoveringtechnologicalevents.【PreliminaryFindings】Ourinitialanalysisofthedatasuggeststhattherearesignificantvariationsinthewaystheseeventsarecoveredbydifferentbroadcasters,andthatthereareclearpatternsintheframingoftheseeventsthathaveimplicationsforthepublicunderstandingofscienceandtechnology.Ourfindingshighlightthefollowingkeythemes:1.Sourcesofinformation:Broadcastersrelyonarangeofsourcestoprovideinformationabouttheevents,includingexpertcommentators,industryrepresentatives,andjournalists.Whileexpertcommentatorsarecommonacrossallbroadcasts,theemphasisonthesesourcesvariessubstantially.2.Useofgraphicsandvisuals:Broadcastersmakeextensiveuseofgraphicsandvisualstoexplaintechnicalconceptstoaudiences,withvaryingdegreesofsuccess.Whilesomebroadcastersusesophisticatedanimationsandsimulationstoillustratecomplexfeaturesofthetechnologicalinnovations,othersrelyonsimplediagramsorstockfootage.3.Languageandterminology:Broadcastersusearangeofrhetoricalstrategiestomaketechnicalconceptsaccessibletoaudiences,includinganalogies,metaphors,andsimplification.However,therearesignificantvariationsintheextenttowhichbroadcastersusetechnicalterminologyandjargon,withsomebroadcastersavoidingthesetermsaltogetherandothersusingthemextensively.4.Framingandsocietalimplications:Broadcastersframetheeventsindifferentways,
