Irecentlywitnessedanexampleoftruecourage.Duringamountainclimbingtripwithmy15yearold

daughterandsomecollegestudents,Inoticedherstrugglingtokeepupwiththegroup.Despitemysuggestionsfor

havingarest,shepersisteduntilshecouldn'tbreatheproperly.

Panicked,Icalledouttothefrontforhelp,buttherewasnoresponse,andwehadnocellphonesignal.

Fortunately,twostudentsjustcamebacktocheckonus.Theyofferedassistanceandcalmedusdown.Aswe

continuedataslowerpace,theysharedtheirownexperiences,fromstartingoutasbeginnerslikemydaughterto

beingconsistentlyamongthefirsttoreachthepeak.

“Youknow,^^oneofthemsaid,lookingatmydaughter,t4IwasjustlikeyouwhenIstarted.Butwithpractice

andproperpace,you'llgettheretoo.”

“Yeah,don'tletyourlackofexperiencestopyou,^^theotheradded."It'sokaytoadmitwhenyou'restruggling

ornotfeelingalright.Infact,it'simportanttospeakupandaskforhelpwhenyouneedit.That'showweimprove

Iwastotallyamazedattheirbravery,andmydaughterlearnedthatit'sokaytobetheleastexperiencedina

understandtheparticipants5materialisticattitudes,socialmediahabits,stresslevels,andlifesatisfaction.The

participants,averagingovertwohoursadayonsocialmedia,revealedaclearpattern:higherlevelsofmaterialism

onsocialmediaareassociatedwithlowerlifesatisfaction,increasedstresssymptoms,andahigherriskofsocial

mediaaddiction.

ThedownsideofbrainstormingwithAIwasthatsomestudentsvoicedconcernsaboutoverrelianceonthe

technology.Theyfeareditmightunderminetheirownthoughtsand,consequently,confidenceintheircreative

abilities.Somestudentsreporteda"fixationofthemind”,meaningthatoncetheysawtheAl'sideas,theyhada

hardtimeingupwiththeirown.

SomestudentsalsoquestionedtheoriginalityofideasgeneratedbyALTheresearchsupportedtheseopinions.

WenotedthatwhileusingChatGPTimprovedstudents9creativeoutputindividually,theAIideastendedtobe

repetitiveoverall.ThisislikelyduetogenerativeAIrecyclingexistingcontentratherthancreatingoriginalthought.

Thestudyresultsindicatethatallowingstudentstopracticecreativityindependentlyfirstwillstrengthentheir

beliefinthemselvesandtheirabilities.Oncetheyacplishthis,AIcanbeusefulforfurtheringtheirlearning,much

liketeachinglongdivisiontostudentsbeforeintroducingacalculator.

AsgenerativeAIgainspopularity,schoolsarepressedtosetguidelinestoensurethesetoolsareused

responsibly.SomestateshavealreadydevelopedguidelinesforAIineducation.Ethicalconsiderationsarevitalfor
