Analysis of Teaching MaterialsThe book of English is published by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press. The lesson is “new curriculum standard” Grade Seven Module1 Unit 1. The module is mainly talking about my

2、 classmates. In the first unit, teacher just needs to teach students to use some words and expressions. The teacher will also add up some practices to further improve the students listening and speaking skills, such as conversation, drill and pair work. By studying of this unit1 Nice to meet you. We

3、 will enable students to know how to do self-introduction. From this lesson, it begins to learn the basic sentence patterns of self-introduction. Therefore, this lesson is in the important positon of this unit. If the students can master it well, it will be helpful for them to learn the rest of this

4、 unit.2. Analysis of StudentsThe lesson is designed for the students in Class 4 Grade 7 of MengJiang No.1 Middle School. MengJiang No.1 Middle School is located in a rural-urban fringe zone. As a result, students social background and educational background are very different. Students who were born

5、 and raised in the city have better foundation and more interest in English learning. They are also relatively more active in the class. For students who come from countryside, they started to learn English only when they were grade 5 or 6 in primary school. And they didn t have chancestoatgo to cla

6、ssethe weekend which makes them prefer listen to the teacher and take notes rather than take part in activities to speak English.But most of the students in Class Four Grade Seven, they have the direct and indirect feeling and perceptual knowledge about this unit. The content of this class is very c

27、 on Communicative Approach as the main teaching method. And this course is training students how to introduce themselves and ask the new classmates personal information. Generally speaking this whole lesson is clear, logical and fluent. This lesson the requirements of National English Curriculum Sta

28、ndards which is helpful to develop students overall ability. And with communicative language teaching method applied in this lesson, it provides students chances to speak and practice English.In order to motivate students interest in English learning, this lesson is student-centered and the large am

29、ount of language activities (such as free talk, guessing game, pair work and role play)are designed, based on the pattern of students physical and mental development and interests. And it not only reflects the requirements of quality education, but also follows the theory of communicative language t

30、eaching. What's more, students will be able to develop their autonomous learning ability and cooperative ability through activities. And with communicative language teaching method applied makes the lesson efficient.Despite this class is a listening and speaking class, this class pays more atten

31、tion to the practice of speaking. Because according to the requirement of quality education and the purpose of learning a language, the junior high school English teaching should 6attach more importance to cultivating students ability to use English for communication. Furthermore, according to the r

32、equirements of National English Curriculum Standards listening and speaking class should cultivate the students ability of oral English which reflects the communicativeness of English teaching.There are some merits in this lesson. First, the teacher guides students to learn the structures by studyin

33、g the new words before the listening part which would make it easier for students to understand the text.Second, the student-centeredtheory is applied throughout the whole teaching process. As a result, students would more actively participate in class activities and more willing to speak. And the t

34、eacher also adopts communicative language teaching to develop students ability to learn and acquire by doing.Third, the teacher sets proper objectives based on Communicative Approach and the analysis both of the teaching material and students. Under the proper objectives this lesson is more effectiv

35、e.Fourth, following the P-W-P mode and Communicative Language Teaching Method, the teacher designs several activities (such as free talk, guessing game, pair work and role play) respectively in presentation, practice and production which all emphasize the new words and structures. Therefore, student

36、s get many chances to practice and enhance their understanding of the new structure.sWhat s more, sharing ideas and group work can shape people, which have all been advocated by Thomas Armstrong. And this class provides students with opportunities to develop their ability to do cooperative work and

37、improve their social skills.Last but not least, this lesson is a combination of a variety of teaching methods. Such as audio, pictures and multimedia applications are flexible. It can arouse the students interest of stuadnyd, attract students a.ttentionHowever, there arestill some demerits in the class. First, the analysis about the students seems too general. As a result, the teacher cannot be sure whether the class is simple, moderate or diffic
