I thank the worlds leaders for being here in such impressive numbers.歡迎大家出席千年發(fā)展目標(biāo)問(wèn)題首腦會(huì)議。我要感謝如此之多的世界各國(guó)領(lǐng)導(dǎo)人蒞臨。We are here because the fight for a more prosperous, stable and equitable world is at the heart itself of the mission of the United Nations. We are here b

3、ecause ten years ago, meeting here at the highest level, the international community promised to spare no effort to free the entire human race from want.我們來(lái)到這里，因?yàn)闋?zhēng)取建立更加繁榮、穩(wěn)定和公平的世界是聯(lián)合國(guó)工作的核心。我們來(lái)到這里，因?yàn)槭昵皣?guó)際社會(huì)在此舉行最高級(jí)別會(huì)議，承諾將不遺余力地使全人類免于匱乏。The eight Millennium Development Goals were a breakthrough. Togethe

4、r, we created a blueprint for ending extreme poverty. We defined achievable targets and timetables. We established a framework that all partners, even those with different views, have been able to embrace.八項(xiàng)千年發(fā)展目標(biāo)是一大突破。我們共同繪制了消除極端貧窮的藍(lán)圖。我們制定了可實(shí)現(xiàn)的目標(biāo)和時(shí)間表。我們確定了所有合作伙伴、甚至是有不同意見的合作伙伴都可以接受的框架。We brought new

5、 urgency to an age-old mission. And now, we have real results. New thinking and path-breaking public-private partnerships. Dramatic increases in school enrolment. Expanded access to clean water. Better control of disease. The spread of technology from mobile to green. We have more development succes

6、s stories than ever before. The transformative impact of the MDGs is undeniable. 7、se advances, many of which are still fragile. The reports we have put before you are filled with statistics, analysis and recommendations everything we need for effective policies and programmes. We have led you to the river. So

10、 what are we asking of you today? To stay true. True to our identity as an international community built on a foundation of solidarity. True to our commitment to end the dehumanizing conditions of extreme poverty.大家都知道我們的立場(chǎng)無(wú)論是差距和結(jié)果，亦或什么是可行的，什么是不可行的。我們向大家提交的報(bào)告載有數(shù)據(jù)、分析和建議，其中包含我們制定切實(shí)有效政策和方案所需要的一切。我們把一切都

11、擺在各位眼前。那么我們今天對(duì)大家的要求是什么呢？堅(jiān)持不懈。堅(jiān)持我們建立在團(tuán)結(jié)基礎(chǔ)之上的國(guó)際社會(huì)的身份。堅(jiān)持你們對(duì)結(jié)束不人道的極端貧窮狀況作出的承諾。That means making the smart investments in infrastructure, small farmers, social services. and above all in women and girls. On Wednesday I will launch a Global Strategy for Womens and Childrens Health our best chance for a mu

We should not balance budgets on the backs of the poor. We must not draw back from official development assistance a li

13、fe-line of billions, for billions.堅(jiān)持不懈意味著即使在經(jīng)濟(jì)危機(jī)中也要支助弱勢(shì)群體。我們不應(yīng)讓窮人承擔(dān)平衡預(yù)算的負(fù)擔(dān)。我們決不能背離官方發(fā)展援助這是一條價(jià)值數(shù)十億之巨的生命線，也是數(shù)十億人的生命線。It means truly fair trade and action on climate change. Deferring the tough decisions to future climate conferences. and future generations only increases the costs. We need to set a co

14、urse towards sustainable practices.這意味著進(jìn)行真正公平的貿(mào)易以及就氣候變化采取行動(dòng)。把艱難的決定留給今后的氣候問(wèn)題會(huì)議和后代，只會(huì)增加成本。我們需要確立實(shí)現(xiàn)可持續(xù)做法的道路。Being true means addressing inequality, both among and within countries. Even in countries that have registered impressive gains, inequality eats away at social cohesion.堅(jiān)持不懈意味著消除不平等國(guó)家間和國(guó)家內(nèi)的不平等。即

Recovery from the economic crisis should not mean a return to the flawed and unjust path that got us into trouble in the first place.這意味著對(duì)傳統(tǒng)智慧作出重新思考。擺脫經(jīng)濟(jì)危機(jī)不應(yīng)意味著重新回到當(dāng)初讓我們陷入困境那種有缺陷和不公正的道路。Excellencies,諸位閣下，Despite the obstacl

16、es, despite the scepticism, despite the fast-approaching deadline of 2015, the Millennium Development Goals are achievable.盡管存在障礙，盡管有人持懷疑態(tài)度，盡管2015年的最后期限迅速迫近，千年發(fā)展目標(biāo)依然可以實(shí)現(xiàn)。This year I visited nearly a dozen countries in Africa and saw for myself what is possible. At the Millennium Village of Mwandama

17、in Malawi. at the Songhai community in Benin I saw innovation integrated projects and perseverance.今年我訪問(wèn)了十幾個(gè)非洲國(guó)家，親眼目睹了什么是能夠做到的。在馬拉維的千年村里，在貝寧的桑海社區(qū)，我看到了創(chuàng)新，看到了綜合項(xiàng)目，看到了鍥而不舍的精神。We must reward such faith with resolve of our own. By using the tools we have. By delivering the resources we need. And, above a

18、ll, by exercising political leadership. I urge you to make the Millennium Development Goals your own.我們必須通過(guò)我們擁有的工具，通過(guò)交付我們需要的資源，尤其是通過(guò)發(fā)揮政治領(lǐng)導(dǎo)作用，用我們自己的決心獎(jiǎng)勵(lì)這種信念。我敦促大家把千年發(fā)展目標(biāo)作為自己的目標(biāo)。As our Nigerian citizen ambassador said in the short video that was screened as we were taking our seats: “Were waiting on you, world leaders”. And as Mingas of Mozambique sings in the MDG song, “Eight Goals for Africa”: “We have the power, at this very hour.”在
