Masters InstructionAs a part of Loading Manual, this booklet d

19、oesntinclude repeated reference data such asHydrostatic data, Capacity data, etc. which have been shown in “LOADING MANUAL TYPICAL LOADING”.Note:For any loading condition including grain loading, the openings in the lower of the longitudinal center bulkheads in No.2, 3&4 cargo holds should be ke

20、pt open at all times.A minimum filling height for grain loading of 5m is mandatory for No.2, 3 and 4 cargo holds both portside and starboard side and the grain heeling moments (partial filled) have been calculated only for one side holds.Special Requirement for Carrying GrainIn accordance with Inter

21、national Code for the Safety Carriage of Grain in Bulk (IMO Resolution MSC.23 (59), the ship carrying bulk Grain should comply with the following requirements:Stowage of bulk grain(1). All necessary and reasonable trimming shall be performed to level all free grain surfaces and to minimize the effec

22、t of grain shifting.(2). In any filled compartment, trimmed, the bulk grain shall be trimmed so as to fill all spaces under the decks and hatch covers to the maximum extent possible.(3). In any filled compartment, untrimmed, the bulk grain shall be filled to the maximum extent possible in way of the

23、 hatch opening but may be at its natural angle of repose outside the periphery of the hatch opening.(4). After loading, all free grain surfaces in partly filled compartments shall be level.Stability requirements(1). The intact stability characteristics of any ship carrying bulk grain shall be shown

24、to meet, throughout the voyage, at least the following criteria after taking into account the heeling moments due to grain shift:.1 The angle of heeling due to the shift of grain shall not to be greater than 12° or in the case of ships constructed on or after 1 January 1994 the angle at which t

25、he deck edge is immersed, whichever is the lesser;.2 In the statical stability diagram, the net or residual area between the heeling arm curve and the righting arm curve up to the angle of heel of maximum difference between the ordinates of the two curves, or 40° or the angle of flooding, which

Before loading bulk gr

27、ain the master shall, if so required by the Contracting Government of the country of the port of loading, demonstrate the ability of the ship at all stages of any voyage to comply with the stability criteria required by this section.(3). After loading, the master shall ensure that the ship is uprigh

28、t before proceeding to sea.(1). 31、surface movement relates to a transverse section across the portion of the compartment being considered and the resultant heeling moment should be multiplied by the length to obtain the total moment for that portion.The assumed transverse heeling moment due to grain shifting is a consequence of fina

32、l changes of shape and position of voids after grain has moved from the high side to the low side.The resulting grain surface after shifting shall be assumed to be at 15degree to the horizontal.Volumetric heeling moment = length x A1 x B1Where:A1 is area of voidB1 is change of transverse centre of g

33、ravity of voidShips stability calculation shall be based on the assumption that the centre of gravity of cargo in a filled compartment is at the volumetric centre of the whole cargo space. Then the heeling moments do not need to be corrected by factor 1.06 due to the adverse effect of vertical shift

38、n loading conditions is same as that in typical loading conditions which been described in “LOADING MANUAL TYPICAL LOADING”.Calculation of heeling momentThe heeling moment calculation is made with the blank sheet as follow:(1). Read the weight of grain cargo in each hold and write it into the column

39、 WEIGHT.(2). Calculate the grain volume from the following formula and write it into the GVOL.GVOL (m3) = Stowage factor (m3/t) × WEIGHT(t)column(3). Find out the volumetric heeling moment GRMV in “Grain Volumetric Heeling Moment Table”.(4). Enter the volumetric heeling moment into column GRMV

40、for each grain loaded compartment.(5). Calculate volumetric heeling moment GRMV into heeling moment by following formula and write it into the column GRM.GRM(tm) = GRMV (m4) / Stowage factor (m3/t) (6). Sum up the heeling moment GRM.Determination for the allowable grain heeling momentThe allowable h

44、 as for "Trim and Initial Stability Calculation" in “LOADING MANUAL TYPICAL LOADING”.DISP=43459.3t, KG=11.05m, GM=1.48m(2). Check height of ships center of gravity corrected by free surfaces effect (KG) whether lies blow the KG limit curve which shown on “KG Limit Curve” in “LOADING MANUAL

45、 TYPICAL LOADING”KG=11.05m MAXKG=11.353m(3). Check metacentric height corrected by free surface effect (GM) whether not less than 0.30m.GM=1.48m 0.30m(4). Determine heeling moment for each grain cargo space.No.1 HOLD(L), No.1 HOLD(M), No.2 HOLD(P&S), No.3 HOLD(P&S) and No.4 HOLD(P&S) are
