1、 The Outline of the Revision Design for Book 6 Unit 3 A healthy life 羅田一中 陳詠 Good morning/afternoon, everyone!It is my great honor to be here sharing my teaching design with you. The content of my teaching plan is New Senior English for China Students Book 6 Unit 3 - A healthy life. First, let me ta

2、lk about the outline of my teaching design. The outline consists of seven parts: the revision strategies of the English College Entrance Examination, the analysis of the teaching material, the teaching goals, the teaching methods, the studying methods, the teaching procedures, and blackboard design.

3、 First, let me talk about the revision strategies of English CEE (College Entrance Examination). Part 1 Revision strategies of English CEE After studying about the English CEE papers of recent years, I design my teaching plan on the basis of the following strategies: 1. Based on the actual knowledge

4、 level of the students; 2. Re-arrange the contents and form a knowledge system; 3. Master and consolidate the basic knowledge ; 4. Adapt the revision methods in time; 5. Carry out the practice of specific patterns of CEE papers. Although the English CEE papers are not totally based on the textbooks,

5、 the students must learn about the basic knowledge and improve their abilities on the basis of textbooks. Ok, lets come to the second part- analysis of teaching material.Part 2 Analysis of teaching material 1 . Brief analysis of the teaching textbook Book 6 is the first optional book of the optional

6、 courses and it is different from the five previous books, and it lay much stress on the students abilities and emotions. This unit is mainly about some of the healthy issues facing young people in China today. In this unit, through reading and discussing these issues, we aim to prevent the students

7、 from unhealthy activities and help them get rid of the bad habits and live a healthier life.Teaching contents 1)To learn about smoking; 2)To learn some vocabularies about the topic, such as stress, be accustomed to and so on; 3)To learn some patterns (everyday English) about prohibition, warning an

8、d permission; 4)To go over the use of “it” (grammar); 5)To learn how to write a practical article: a letter of advice. 3. The important points and the difficult points 1). The important points of this unit : grasp the usages of some important words, phrases and sentence patterns. 2). The difficult p

9、oints of this unit : use the key points correctly. 4. Teaching re-arrangements In this revision unit, we will focus more on revising the key and difficult points and develop the students abilities. Therefore, I will re-arrange the contents of this unit. Ill divide the revision of this unit into five

10、 periods as follows: Period One: Warming up & reading Period Two: Language study Period Three: Grammar & practice Period Four: Writing practice Period Five: Unit Test The teaching goals should be strictly based on the teaching outline. So, lets have a look at the requirements of the new standard cur

11、riculum and the syllabus.(There is a link) According to the new standard curriculum and the syllabus of this unit, there are three kinds of teaching goals of this unit. Then lets come to the third part-teaching goals. Part 3 Teaching goals Knowledge objects 1) The students can hear, read, and use th

12、e words ,phrases and sentence patterns in this unit, such as abuse, ban, effect, be addicted to, be accustomed to, due to, get into and so on; 2) The students can grasp the important use of it .Ability objects 1) Enable the Ss to have a better understanding of the contents of this unit and talk abou

13、t health issues.Enable the Ss to use the patterns to express their thoughts in the proper situations.Enable the Ss to connect the mastered knowledge with the CEE. Emotion or moral objects 1) By learning about smoking, enable the students to form a good lifestyle; 2) By learning about AIDS, enable th

14、e students to have a correct attitude toward the people who are infected with AIDS and prevent them from getting infected with it. Well, as teachers, how to achieve the teaching goals better, how to stress the important points and break through the difficult points? The answer is to find out suitabl

15、e teaching and studying methods. According to the analysis of the teaching material and the students learning background, I will use the following methods in this unit.Part 4 Teaching Methods Because the language study and grammar learning are the most important parts of this unit. Ill use “Whole La

16、nguage Teaching method (整體語言教學法). According to the modern social communication teaching theories(現(xiàn)代社會交際教學理論), I adopt the TBLT method (語言任務教學) in my teaching, namely Task-based Language Teaching. Besides, Ill adopt the inductive and deductive method in the language study part and grammar learning pa

17、rt. At the same time, Ill make full use of the modern teaching equipments. Then what about the studying methods? Part 5 Studying Methods According to the students actual situation and the teaching material, Ill adopt the following studying methods. First, to motivate the students passion for English

18、 learning. Then, Ill create a certain relaxing atmosphere for the Ss to study easily. Besides, Ill encourage the probe study and cooperative study in the students so that the students can form good learning habits. Part 6 Teaching ProceduresPeriod one : Warming up & readingStep 1 Warming-upLead-in w

19、ith a proverb: He who has health has hope, and he who has hope has everything . The purpose of this proverb is to stress the importance of health and draw the students attention to the topic of this unit.Brainstorming Teaching procedures: First, the students are required to brainstorm about the foll

20、owing question in pairs or groups: What health issues do you think concern young people the most? Then, show the answers from the class on the screen.The purpose of this activity is to lead in the topic of the reading passage.Step 2 Revision of the reading text: blank- filling Your mother tells me t

21、hat you _(開始吸煙)some time ago and now you are finding _(很難戒掉它). By the way,did you know that this is because _(你對吸煙上癮) in three different ways? First,you can become physically addicted to nicotine,_(它) is one of the hundreds of chemicals in cigarettes. Secondly,you become addicted through habits. _ (

22、正如你所知道的),if you do the same thing over and over again,you begin to do it automatically. Lastly,you can become _ (mental) addicted. I was addicted in all three ways, so it was difficult to quit it. However, I _ (我最后做到了)because it _ (對.損害嚴重)my life. There are a few suggestions for you to stop smoking,

23、 _ (我希望他們對你有幫助).The design purposes of this step: 1. Get more familiar with the reading passage, the key language points in this unit; 2. Improve the students ability by practising the sentence completion.Procedures of this step: 1. Let the Ss read the short passage above quickly; 2. Play the tape a

24、nd request the Ss to finish the blanks individually (individual work); 3. Allow the Ss to discuss their answers in groups (group work); 4. Ask some students to report their answers; 5. Check the answers and explain some difficult points if necessary.Step 3 Free revision for preparations for the foll

25、owing lessons.Though this is a free activity , there are still two tasks for the Ss:1. Revise the contents of the textbook and find out difficult points;2. Refer to the reference book carefully to figure out the key points of this unit. Period two: Language study (important period) Since the student

26、s have been familiar with the contents of the whole unit , we can check the effects of their free revision-period two. the purposes of this period are as follows: 1. Consolidate the uses of key words, phrases and sentence patterns; 2. Enable the students to apply the language points flexibly to the

27、CEE.Teaching strategies: Presentation conclusion explanation applicationGuiding principles (基本理念): 1.value the basis 2. emphasis the points 3. improve the ability 4. Stress the applicationUse of knowledge including:Word application phrase application pattern application grammar applicationA variety

30、ods: 1. The inductive and deductive teaching methods: Ill ask the students to sum up the main usages of the key words and try to imitate to use them in practice; 2. TBLT teaching method: I design many tasks for the students to complete individually or cooperatively so that the students can form good

31、 learning habits.Purposes: 1. Let the students learn to apply these key words to practise. 2. Practice the sentence completion.Step 3 Practice: 高考對接1. 33、 spite of Here Id like to demonstrate an example for you As for the teaching purposes , methods and design, they are almost the same as that of the key words learning.Step 3 Practice: 語境活用 _(冒著吸煙的風險) out of curiosity,Tom found himself _(想要抽煙) when he was free. After a while,his body _( 變得習慣于)having

34、nicotine in it. As a matter of fact,smoking did damage to his heart and lungs because he was addicted to smoking. _(盡管) all his efforts, he couldnt stop smoking. 35、idually.Purpose: use the key phrases correctly.Part 3 Wonderful sentence appreciationPurposes of this step: 1) let the students have a better understanding of some beautiful sentence patterns; 2) let the students learn to imitate these sentence patterns; 3) practice the sentence patterns. 4) make pr

36、eparations for the grammar lesson.Procedures of this step: 1. Ask the students to find out their own beautiful sentences from the text freely; 2. Let some students share their sentences and explain the reasons; 3. show the following beautiful sentences on the screen for the Ss to appreciate and anal

37、yze .4. make up sentences by using the above sentence patterns freely. On the screen : 1) Your mother tells me that you started smoking some time ago and now you are finding it difficult to give it up. (L6 P18) 2) When I was taken off the school football team because I was unfit, I knew it was time

38、to quit smoking. (L27 P18) 3) I do hope so because I want you to live as long and healthy a life as I have. (L30 P18) 4) Every time you feel like smoking a cigarette, remind yourself that you are a non-smoker. (L6 P19) 5) It is only when the disease has progressed to AIDS that a person begins to loo

39、k sick . (L23P22) Step 4 Homework Summarize the whole lesson and arrange the homework. 1. Finish the exercises; 2. Preview the grammar.Purposes : As for the first assignment, it is necessary for the Ss to do some exercises after class to consolidate the knowledge they learned. The second assignment

40、is the preparation for the next lesson.Period three: Grammar and practice-the use of it Teaching design thoughts:In this part, I adopt the observation -imitation-practice teaching method to let the students grasp the usages of it.Besides, this part connects the grammar knowledge with the CEE. Accord

41、ing to observing the ECC questions ,the students can sum up the usages of it.After the summary, there are enough practice for the students to consolidate the usages of the grammar knowledge.Step 1 Lead-in 1. Complete the sentences from the textbook. 1) I think I was addicted in all three ways, so _

Show the main uses of it directly;2.Click five links to five links of the CEE questions;3.Sum up the main

45、uses of it.一.it主要用法1. 用作代詞: 1) 代替前文提到的事物,性別不明或性別被認為不重要的人或動物。 2) 起指示代詞的作用,相當于this或that 3) 泛指天氣,時間,日期,地點,溫度,距離,環(huán)境等。作形式主語: it可以用作句子的形式主語,而把句子邏輯上的真正主語移到后面 去, 可以移到后面的主語是: 不定式/動名詞/主語從句作形式賓語: 當復合賓語中的賓語是不定式、動名詞、賓語從句時,往往把賓 語放在它的補足語后面,而用it作形式賓語,放在謂語之后。4. it 的一些習慣用法及句型 We can make it. 成功做成/按時到達。 I can manage i

It will be +時間段+before. 要過.才.用于強調(diào)結構: 強調(diào)主語,賓語,狀語等,三種結構如下: 1) 陳述句: It is/was + 被強調(diào)部分 + that/who/whom + 其他部分。 2) 一般疑問句: Is/Was it+被強調(diào)部分 + that/who/whom + 其他部分? 3) 特殊疑問句:疑問詞+is/was it + that/who/whom + 其他部分?二使用it的強調(diào)句型有以下幾點請注意: 強調(diào)句的謂語is或was永遠用單數(shù). not.until.的強調(diào)結構,要使用It is/was not until.that. not已經(jīng)前移,that后面用肯定形式。強調(diào)句和其他從句的辨析。 Step 3 Complete the following sentences. 1.I still wonder _(究竟是什么) made him disappointed.
