、 night and stars are seen in the darkC. Cities lights illunfinate the night sky and make stars invisibleD City lights at night illuminate stars in the sky先理解標(biāo)題,推測文章內(nèi)容:Light Night,Dark Stars。

、ution. 1. When can people see 14000 stars?A When they have a fairly good telescope當(dāng)他們有一個非常不錯的望遠(yuǎn)鏡B When they are in a large city當(dāng)他們在大城市時C When the night sky is clear of clouds, moonlight and artificial lights當(dāng)夜空中

D When the night sky is without haze and fog當(dāng)夜空沒有陰霾和大霧時分析:關(guān)鍵詞很容易找14000 stars,在第一段出現(xiàn)了該詞:Thousands of people(數(shù)以千計的人) around the globe (世界上)step outside(走出去) to gaze at(凝視) their night skyOn a clear(晴朗的) night, with no clouds, moonlight,or artificial (人造的)lights to block(遮擋、擋?。?the view, peo

、ple can see more than 14,000 stars in the sky(答案C),says Dennis Ward,an astronomer(天文學(xué)家) with the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research(UCAR)in Boulder,ColoBut when people are surrounded (被。包圍)by city lightshe says, theyre lucky to see 150 stars補(bǔ)充:請注意短語:be clear of sth: 無阻礙、障礙、危險如:Wait until

、 the road is clear of traffic before crossing.(等到路上沒車時再過馬路。)2Which of the following statements(敘述) is NOT related to(同。有關(guān)) light pollution?A A haze of light is formed from artificial lights such as streetlights and building lights(陰霾的光是由人造光而形成的,如路燈和建筑物的光)B Lights from different sources in the city s

、tream into space and illuminate the night sky來自于不同來源的光進(jìn)入太空并照亮了夜空C The night sky is illuminated by the lights from big glowing cities in the night夜空由晚上大城市發(fā)出的光照亮D Stargazing(star + gazing觀望星星) becomes difficult because there is a layer of haze in the air由于空氣中有一層霾,所以觀望星星變得困難分析:本題的關(guān)鍵詞是light pollution,而且

If youve ever driven toward a big city at night and seen its glow from a great distance(答案C), youve witnessed(見證、目睹) light pollutionIt occurs when light from streetlights, office buildings, signs, and other sources streams into space and illuminates the night sky(答案A,B表述)This

、haze of light makes many stars invisible to people on EarthEven at night, big cities like New York glow from light pollution, making stargazingdifficult(請注意這句話并不是答案D,他們不同,該句是說:甚至在晚上,許多像紐約這樣的大城市所產(chǎn)生的燈光使觀望星星變得困難。) 3.Does the writer think growing cities affect astronomers work? Why does he

、think so?A YesBecause the once dark rural areas are polluted by lights因?yàn)樵?jīng)黑暗的鄉(xiāng)村地區(qū)被光污染了B NoBecause they Call still see stars in rural areasC.YesBecause rural areas are not a good place for astronomers to study stars因?yàn)猷l(xiāng)村地區(qū)不是一個好的研究星星的地方。D. No. Because faint light given off by stars call still be seen o

Hazy skies also make it far more difficult for astronomers to do their jobs. 留下A,C. Cities are getting largerS

、uburbs(郊區(qū)) are growing in once dark, rural areasLight from all this new development is increasingly obscuring(使。變得模糊) the faint (微弱的)light given off by distant starsAnd if scientists cant locate(確定。的位置) these objects, they cant learn more about them總結(jié):做閱讀理解時大家需要牢牢抓住文章的中心或核心詞,只要被選項(xiàng)中有核心內(nèi)容的出現(xiàn)就可以推測為正確答案!

、4. How does light pollution affect wildlife? Which of the following is NOT correct?A . Animals may go off course due to the attraction of artificial lights由于受到人造光的吸引,動物們可能偏離航向B . Animals might be attracted by artificial lights to go into cities動物們可能會受到人造光的吸引而進(jìn)入城市C. Artificial lights at night may mak

、e migrating birds lose their way夜間的人造光可能會使遷徙的鳥類們迷路 Light pollution doesnt only affect star visibilityIt can harm wildlife tooIts clear that artificial li

、sruptive(破壞性的) influence(答案C)”Sometimes birds fly into lighted towers(答案D),high rises, and cables from radio and televisioll towersExperts estimate that millions of birds die this way every year. 5Which of the following is closest(最接近的) in meaning(意思) to the titleLight Night,Dark Stars?A. T

、he night sky is light colored and stars are black夜空是淺色的而星星是黑色的B. Lights appear at night and stars are seen in the dark光顯現(xiàn)在夜晚而在黑暗中人們看見星星C. Cities lights illunfinate the night sky and make stars invisible城市的燈光照亮了夜空而使得星星已經(jīng)無法看見D City lights at night illuminate stars in the sky夜晚的城市的燈光照亮了天空中的星星。

例二:Declining Interest in Developing Foreign Language Skills1. D) department.

1. How much percent百分?jǐn)?shù)of high school graduates(高中畢業(yè)生) were proficient(精通的)in foreign languages forty years ago(40年前)?A) 70. B)13. C) 40. D) 6.5.

、chool graduates, forty years ago。 Australias foreign language skills are declining, Voice of America has reported. 58、e. Professor Elise Tipton, from the University of Sydney, says increasingly students do not feel the need to learn another language to boost their career. She believes that Australias economic boom(經(jīng)濟(jì)的繁榮), which is driven(受到驅(qū)動) by red-hot(非常有活力的) deman

Improve your relation with your partner.B. Help settle international conflicts.C. Remove barriers in negotia

、tions.D. Increase trading opportunities. Dilip Dutta, from the economice and business faculty at Sydney University, says language skills can enhance trading opportunities(答案D出處?。?
