互動媒體支撐下的課堂教學(xué)研究

Introduction

Withtherapiddevelopmentoftechnology,interactivemediahasbecomeanintegralpartofourdailylives.Ithaschangedthewaywecommunicate,learnandwork.Interactivemediahastheabilitytocreateimmersiveexperiencesandengagelearnersinameaningfulway.Inrecentyears,therehasbeenanincreasinginterestinusinginteractivemediaforclassroomteaching.Thispaperreviewstheresearchoninteractivemediainclassroomteaching,focusingonitseffectsonlearningoutcomes,studentengagementandteacher-studentinteraction.

EffectsonLearningOutcomes

Interactivemediahasshowntohaveapositiveeffectonlearningoutcomes.Inameta-analysisstudythatexaminedtheeffectsofinteractivemediaonstudentachievementinscience,technology,engineeringandmathematics(STEM)courses,itwasfoundthatinteractivemediahadamoderate-to-largeeffectonstudentachievement(Kim&Gilbert,2014).Thestudyanalyzed36studies,involving3,131participants.Interactivemediawasdefinedascomputer-basedsimulations,games,animationsorvirtualenvironmentsthatallowlearnerstomanipulateobjectsorexplorescenarios.Thestudyfoundthatinteractivemediahadasignificanteffectonstudentachievement,withaneffectsizeof0.60(p<.001).Thisindicatesthatinteractivemediawasassociatedwitha0.60standarddeviationincreaseinstudentachievement.

Interactivemediahasalsobeenfoundtobeeffectiveinimprovingcriticalthinkingskills.Inastudythatcomparedtheeffectivenessoftraditionalteachingmethodswithinteractivemediainenhancingcriticalthinkingskillsoffirst-yearcollegestudents,itwasfoundthatinteractivemedialedtoasignificantimprovementincriticalthinkingskills(Tekinsoy&Celik,2016).Thestudyinvolved88students,whowererandomlyassignedtothetraditionalteachinggrouporinteractivemediagroup.Theinteractivemediagroupwasexposedtoasimulationsoftwarecalled"BridgeBuilder",whichallowedstudentstodesignandbuildbridges.Thetraditionalteachinggroupreceivedlecturesonbridgeengineering.Thestudyfoundthattheinteractivemediagroupshowedsignificantimprovementsincriticalthinkingskills,asmeasuredbytheCaliforniaCriticalThinkingSkillsTest(CCTST),comparedtothetraditionalteachinggroup.

EffectsonStudentEngagement

Interactivemediahastheabilitytoincreasestudentengagementinthelearningprocess.Inastudythatcomparedtheeffectsofatraditionallecturewithacomputer-basedmultimediapresentationonstudentengagement,itwasfoundthatthecomputer-basedmultimediapresentationledtohigherlevelsofstudentengagement(Ali&El-Mahdy,2016).Thestudyinvolved80undergraduatestudents,whowererandomlyassignedtothetraditionallecturegrouporcomputer-basedmultimediapresentationgroup.Thecomputer-basedmultimediapresentationincludedtext,graphics,audioandvideoelements,andallowedstudentstointeractwiththecontent.Thestudyfoundthatthecomputer-basedmultimediapresentationledtosignificantlyhigherlevelsofstudentengagement,asmeasuredbyaself-reportquestionnaire.

Interactivemediahasalsobeenfoundtoincreasestudentmotivation.Inastudythatexaminedtheeffectsofgamificationonstudentmotivationandengagementinanonlinecourse,itwasfoundthatgamificationledtoincreasedmotivationandengagement(Landers&Callan,2014).Thestudyinvolved91students,whowererandomlyassignedtothegamificationgrouporacontrolgroup.Thegamificationgroupinvolvedtheuseofgameelements,suchasleaderboards,badgesandpoints,tomotivateandengagestudentsinthelearningprocess.Thestudyfoundthatthegamificationgroupshowedhigherlevelsofmotivationandengagement,asmeasuredbyaself-reportquestionnaire.

EffectsonTeacher-StudentInteraction

Interactivemediahastheabilitytoimproveteacher-studentinteraction.Inastudythatexaminedtheeffectsofinteractivewhiteboardsonteacher-studentinteractioninaprimaryschoolclassroom,itwasfoundthatinteractivewhiteboardsledtoincreasedteacher-studentinteraction(Mulcahy,2013).Thestudyinvolvedeightteachersandover300students,whowereexposedtointeractivewhiteboardsintheirclassroom.Thestudyfoundthattheuseofinteractivewhiteboardsledtoincreasedstudentinvolvementinclassroomactivitiesandincreasedteacher-studentinteraction.

Interactivemediahasalsobeenfoundtoimprovefeedbackandassessmentpractices.Inastudythatexaminedtheeffectsofusinginteractivemediainformativeassessmentpractices,itwasfoundthatinteractivemedialedtoimprovedfeedbackandassessmentpractices(Faulkner&Pilling,2010).Thestudyinvolved15teachersandover400students,whowereexposedtointeractivemediainformativeassessmentpractices.Thestudyfoundthattheuseofinteractivemediaimprovedthefeedbackprocess,asteacherswereabletoprovidemoretimelyandspecificfeedbacktostudents.

Conclusion

Interactivemediahastheabilitytoenhanceclassroomteachingbyimprovinglearningoutcomes,increasingstudentengagementandimprovingteacher-studentinteraction.Theresearchreviewedinthispapershowsthatinteractivemediahasapositiveeffectonstudentachievement,criticalthinkingskills,motivationandengagement.Italsohastheabilitytoimproveteacher-studentinteractionandfeedb
