Theprimitiveancestorwasn'tgoodenoughtocleanhisapartment,butMr.Jonesfeltitcouldbeagoodproductwiththerightdevelopment.Beforelong,hislabranoutofmoney.Hewaslaidoff.Hemovedtoaroboticsstartup,proposedtheconceptoftheRoombaandgotfired.Andthen,hejoinediRobot,workingonalargecleaningrobotfordepartmentstores.In1999,aworkmatesuggestedtheymakeroboticfloorsweepersforthehome.Nowthetimingwasright.Thecompanyprovidedfunds,sotheysetaboutbuildingarobot.
