Description

TheLedburyPoetryFestivalisthebiggestpoetryfestivalintheUK.Ittakesplaceoverten

dayseachJuly.Ifyouthinkyouknowwhatpoetryis,comealongandwe'llsurpriseyou.There

arelivereadings,performances,music,exhibitions,films,familyeventsandstreetevents.

EachyearweorganizeafamouscompetitionfornewpoetryinpartnershipwithTyNewydd,

TheNationalWriters1CentreforWales.Itattractsentriesfromallovertheglobe.Therearethree

groups:Adults(18+),YoungPeople(12—17)andChildren(under12).

Allpoemsmustbetheoriginalworkoftheentrantandshouldnothavebeenpreviously

published,acceptedforpublicationbyamagazine,orhaveenteredinothercompetitions.

Thelengthofeachpoemmustbemorethan40lines.

whatmadeothershappy.Istartedoutbystudyingcreativepeoplesuchasmusicians,artistsand

athletesbecausetheywerepeoplewhodevotedtheirlivestodoingwhattheywantedtodo,rather

thanthingsthatjustbroughtthemfinancialrewards.

Later,Iexpandedthestudybyinventingasystemcalled“theexperiencesamplingmethod”.

Ordinarypeoplewereaskedtokeepanelectronicpager(傳呼機(jī))foraweekwhichgaveouta

beepingsoundeighttimesaday.Everytimeitdidso,theywrotedownwheretheywere,what

theyweredoing,howtheyfeltandhowmuchtheywereconcentrating.Thissystemhasnowbeen

usedonmorethan10,000people,andtheanswersareconsistent:aswithcreativepeople,
