Therestructuringwasfollowedbychangingtheorganizationalcultureandthemanagerialstylesof

GE'smanagers.OnesuchprogramwastheWork-Out[群策群力].Groupsofmanagerswereassembledtoshare

theirviewsopenlyinthree-daysessions.Atthebeginningofthemeetings,thesuperiorpresentedthe

challengesforhisorherorganizationalunit.Thenthesuperiorhadtoleave,requestingthegroupsto

findsolutionstotheproblems.Facilitators[會(huì)議主持人]helpedthesediscussions.Onthelastday,

thesuperiorwaspresentedwithproposedsolutions.Heorshethenhadthreechoices:toacceptthe

proposal,nottoacceptit,ortocollectmoreinformation.Thisprocessputgreatpressureonthe

superiortomakedecisions.

AnotherprogramtoimproveeffectivenessandefficiencywasBestPractices.Theaimwastolearn

fromothercompanieshowtheyobtainedcustomersatisfaction,howtheyrelatedtotheirsuppliers,and

inwhatwaystheydevelopednewproducts.ThishelpedtheGEpeopletofocusontheprocessesintheir

operationsthatwouldimprovethecompany,sperformance.
