Theteamthenstudiedthedifferencesinthetwogroups'songsinthelaboratory.Toencouragethemtosingtheyexposedthemalestoafemalegrasshopper,andthenrecordedtheircourtshipsongs.Analysisofalmost1,000recordingsrevealedgrasshopperslivingbesidenoisyroadsproduceddifferentsongstothoselivinginquieterlocations.
