Section A 1a2bThe analysis of teaching material教材分析This unit talks about how to ask for and give directions, and teaches students 8 frequently-used nouns about places and 4 prepositions and prepositional phrases about direction. It also enables students to use the sentence pattern there be correctly to ask and describe the positions of some objects. Meanwhile, it consolidates the simple present tense as well. After studying this unit, students will be able to ask for and give directions in decent English. The analysis of learning situation學(xué)情分析Knowledge base: Students have already mastered several prepositions of place, the simple present tense and the use of sentence pattern there be.Thinking ability: Students in this age group have stronger abilities to imitate and perceive language, have active thinking and higher enthusiasm to study English.Psychology: Its quite often for students to ask the way and show others the way. They are familiar with and interested in this and have something to say. But few students have less confidence in studying because of weak knowledge basis. Then we need a flexible design, multiple teaching activities and encourage students to learn actively.Design Concept設(shè)計(jì)理念The daily life of students is closely connected to asking for and giving directions, and it can arouse students interests easily so as to make them have something to say. So leading-in from a familiar situation can make study realistic. Through completing semi-realistic situation activities, students learn many nouns of locality, names of building gradually and know two sentence patterns to ask and show the way. Finally, students achieve teaching objectives through perception、experience、practice、cooperation and so on.Objectives 教學(xué)目標(biāo)1Knowledge objectives知識(shí)目標(biāo)1) Key vocabulary:post office, police station, hotel, bank, restaurant, pay phone, hospital, street, near, across from, in front of, behind2) Key structures: Is there a bank near here? Look at the pictures on the screen and makes sentences. Through the two ways, the Ss review the prepositions of places the Ss have learned.The Ss know the prepositions of places again, and lay the foundation for this section.Step2 Revision and new wordsTeacher guides the Ss to answer “Where is XIan Huizhi Middle School?” and teach the new words “hospital, street, across from” naturally.They can give different answers according to different pictures. At the same time, the Ss will learn the three new words.Use the situation the Ss are very familiar with to review “-Wheres ? -Its” and learn the new words. It makes the Ss learn easily. The Ss just learn in practice. Step3 SpeakingIntroduce another way to ask for directions and learn the new words “near, restaurant”.Ss look at the pictures and try to answer them with the help of the teacher.The sentence pattern“There be” has been learnt, so they only need to practice spoken English.Step4 New wordsShow pictures of eight places and name each place, teach the eight new word.Repeat and then read the new words. Play the memory game.Through quick response exercises, the Ss are familiar with these words and lay the foundation for the following step.Step5 2a, 2bTeacher leads the Ss to look at the six pictures and get to know these pictures. Teacher asks the Ss to listen to the tape and match the sentences with the pictures.The Ss to listen to the tape and match the sentences they hear with the pictures. The Ss fill in the blanks with the words in the box.Lead the Ss to practice the sentence pattern with these new words over and over again to consolidate the target languages.Step6 PracticeGet the Ss to make their own dialogues by using the target language.The Ss create situations by themselves and make conversations.Encourage the Ss create situations by themselves and make conversations. Develop students self-confidence.Step7 Consolidation and summaryGive the Ss a street map and ask the Ss to fill in the blanks.The Ss look at the street map on the screen and fill in the blanks with the appropriate prepositions.Lead the Ss sum up what we have learned with the whole class.Through these tasks, the Ss can feel a sense of achievement and a sense of self-confidence.Ho
