1、module 1 unit 5 nelson mandela - a modern hero作者:江西省新余市第九中學(xué)教師汪健瓊教學(xué)課型:閱讀課教學(xué)內(nèi)容:warming up, pre-reading, reading & comprehending教學(xué)目標(biāo):訓(xùn)練學(xué)生掌握不同的閱讀技巧,培養(yǎng)學(xué)生通過閱讀認(rèn)識當(dāng)代英雄納爾遜曼德拉的高貴品質(zhì),并在向偉人的學(xué)習(xí)過程中提高自身的道德修養(yǎng)。教學(xué)重點(diǎn):1. get the students to know about the qualities a great person should have.2. get the students to learn

2、about nelson mandela.3. get the students to learn different reading skills.教學(xué)難點(diǎn):1. develop the students reading ability.2. enable the students to learn how to express their opinions.教學(xué)方法:1. task-based teaching and learning.2. cooperative learning.3. discussion.教學(xué)手段:the multi-media and other normal t

3、eaching tools.教學(xué)思路:1. 熱身:利用下載的圖片,讓學(xué)生使用形容詞來描述和談?wù)搨ト怂邆涞钠焚|(zhì)。這樣的直觀教學(xué)更能引起學(xué)生的興趣,調(diào)動學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)的積極性,活躍課堂氛圍。再以頭腦風(fēng)暴的形式介紹單詞,既復(fù)習(xí)了已學(xué)的詞匯,又?jǐn)U展了同類詞匯,學(xué)生更加易于接受。2. 讀前:通過舉例讓學(xué)生理解并接受“名人并非都是偉人”這一觀點(diǎn)。難點(diǎn)是讓學(xué)生學(xué)會如何用英語表達(dá)自己的觀點(diǎn)、看法。先由教師提供給學(xué)生表達(dá)的句型;再由學(xué)生自由討論他們所熟悉的名人和偉人,在討論的過程中,使學(xué)生潛移默化地在今后的學(xué)習(xí)和生活中以偉人為榜樣,提高自身素養(yǎng);最后過渡到課本的讀前部分。3. 閱讀:(1)讓學(xué)生看閱讀標(biāo)題及圖片,猜

4、測文章的寫作手法,激起學(xué)生的閱讀欲望。(2)快速閱讀,獲取文章大意,借此完成短文填詞任務(wù),初步了解曼德拉的生平,為下面系統(tǒng)地學(xué)習(xí)閱讀文章作鋪墊(“be sentenced to 被判處(徒刑)”這一短語學(xué)生暫時未學(xué),可先提示)。(3)細(xì)讀時,要求學(xué)生帶著問題有目的地仔細(xì)閱讀文章,尋找關(guān)鍵信息,完成對話表演。(4)本篇閱讀材料有8處出現(xiàn)了以when, where,介詞+ whom/which引導(dǎo)的定語從句。要求學(xué)生尋找這些句子,并由老師加以講解,為本單元的語法作鋪墊。4.主題任務(wù):認(rèn)真閱讀課文,復(fù)述故事。教學(xué)步驟第一課時 閱讀課步驟一:熱身活動:談?wù)搨ト?,了解偉人所具備的品質(zhì),學(xué)習(xí)詞匯 利用網(wǎng)上

5、所下載的圖片,談?wù)搨ト耍喝缋卒h、比爾蓋茨、愛因斯坦、居里夫人、鄧小平、楊利偉等。 提問:what kind of person do you think they are? do you admire them? why? who can use some adjectives to describe their qualities?步驟二:讀前活動:討論偉人與名人的區(qū)別 第一步:利用圖片談?wù)撊宋铮ㄈ绫葼柹w茨、鄧小平、周杰倫、劉翔等) 提問:do you recognize them? what kind of person do you think they are, famous peop

6、le or great people? why? who can tell me the differences between famous people and great people? 學(xué)生通過預(yù)習(xí)均能回答:most great people are also famous people, but famous people may not be great people. a great person is someone who devotes his/her life to helping others. 第二步:教師引導(dǎo)學(xué)生根據(jù)以下句型來表達(dá)觀點(diǎn),進(jìn)行討論和表演。如:in my

7、 opinion, i dont think./ i think./ i am afraid that./ i agree./ i dont agree.; whats your opinion?; what do you think of.?; why do you think so?a sample dialogue:a: do you think bill gates is a great man?b: i dont think he is. though he contributes to our world, his contribution is too small, compar

8、ed with that of great scientists such as madam curie and albert einstein.a: i dont agree with you. gates set up microsoft company and made his own software such as windows that we commonly use today. because of his talent, he became the richest man in the world. however, gates has donated a great de

9、al of money to help the education and health of many children around the world. as a result, he is considered as the most generous man in the world.b: oh, what you said really changes my opinion. how great he is! i think i should learn more from him. 第三步:結(jié)合自己,學(xué)習(xí)偉人。 提問:do you think if you have the qu

10、alities to be a great person? do you want to be a great person in the future? do you think you can become a great person? 第四步:教師展示課本中p33中古今中外的六位人物,讓學(xué)生閱讀書上的介紹并進(jìn)行討論、發(fā)表意見、完成表格。 提問:are these famous people also great people?nameswhat he didhis qualitiesis he a great man?whywilliam tyndalenorman bethunesu

11、n yat-senmohandas gandhinelson mandelaneil armstrong 設(shè)計意圖:讓學(xué)生通過自由討論以及發(fā)表自己的觀點(diǎn)來區(qū)分名人和偉人。 教學(xué)效果:很多學(xué)生認(rèn)為阿姆斯特朗不能算作偉人,因?yàn)樗麤]有付出任何犧牲就登上月球;但也有學(xué)生認(rèn)為他是冒著生命的危險去追求偉大的事業(yè),所以應(yīng)該算作偉人。再如比爾蓋茨,有學(xué)生認(rèn)為他的貢獻(xiàn)比起居里夫人、愛因斯坦等偉大的科學(xué)家的貢獻(xiàn)微不足道;但也有學(xué)生認(rèn)為,比爾蓋茨開創(chuàng)了微軟(microsoft)公司和電腦操作系統(tǒng)如windows和vista,將我們帶入了一個全新的“信息時代”,而且他慷慨大方,熱心慈善事業(yè),捐出百萬美元甚至更多來幫助

12、世界上缺乏教育、衛(wèi)生條件差的孩子,還創(chuàng)辦了自己的慈善基金,因此他被稱為“世界上最慷慨的人”。步驟三:閱讀(elias story)1. read the title of the text, and look at the picture of nelson mandela on p34. predict: what is the relation between elias and mandela? guess: what kind of writing is the text?
